"My 87 year old Father sat in A&E for 11 hours yesterday in pain. He sat on a hard chair all this time. He was not offered a lie down. He wasn’t offered a drink for 9 hours. He was asked if it really was an emergency. Not been able to pass urine is an emergency. He didn’t come to A&E just for a day out. This may be his last New Years Eve and this wait is unacceptable for everyone. No one showed my Father compassion, empathy or respect."
"A and E excellent and all the nurses and doctors were fantastic. The nurses on the ward were very surprised my mother was sent home early. Clearly a decision made for the wrong reasons The Ambulance that attended the next day were also surprised she was sent home when she did, The GP who visited twice could not believe my mother was sent home when she was As a layman it was blatantly obvious that going from a drip and oxygen and a few hours later being dumped in reception for hours in just her dressing gown, but I was not advised I could have at least brought warm clothing. When I got the surprising call to collect I was there in 10 minutes. Called the ward but no longer interested after she had been sent to the reception Told to ring 111, 8 attempts every call cut off when transferred to local NHS area. Just the day before I was told at least 2 or 3 days before it was safe for her to go home GP arranged emergency transport back to A and E More than 6 hours so far and still waiting. Great and caring personnel in A and E. Clearly wrong decision to send her home, enormous amount of extra resources wasted because of wrong decision to send her home. For the sake of 24 to 48 hours."
"My grandma has been in and out of hospital for 3 months. The second time she was in hospital she was in for 4 weeks. She was moved to 4 or 5 different wards, including a cancer ward. Which wasn't ideal as that wasn't the ward she should of been on. She was in for her gallbladder, then she had a chest infection and a UTI. Then she had to have physio again and couldn't be discharged till they knew best. And the ward she was on which I think was the surgical ward. The nurses were just rude and unhelpful. We needed a wheelchair so my gran could be taken to the car we asked 5 nurses and each ignored us and were rude. I wasnt very happy nor was my gran who had enough. . But these last 5 week's have been hard. The ward she was on was brilliant. All the nurses took care of her and some adored my gran. It was also nice to actually be able to talk to the doctors about what was going on with my gran. I honestly appreciate ward 70 alot. The only sad thing is that they didn't tell us she had sepsis. And that we had to find out what she passed away from when we went to register her death last week. Nearly two weeks since she passed and I'm grateful for the care ward 70 gave my grandma."
"Terrible place. Zero stars. So if someone isn't mobile and needs assistance getting to the commode is it normal practice for staff to say they can't be bothered because it means getting a bed lift and they they tell patients they just need to go in the bed. But then it's hard to call for assistance when there is no call button. And if someone does have a call button and uses it no one comes. Painful dry eyes and they won't prescribe anything. Tell you to drink more water. Won't prescribe anything if you have acute restless leg syndrome. What about treating patients with care and dignity or are these words just thrown about in these NHS Trusts. Do nurses from overseas have to pass the English Board of Nursing exam in order to work here. Absolutely pitiful."
"Just spent 7 hrs again in the A&E dept waiting for results on my partners MRI scan she had this morning.....staff at the desk rude and more interested in showing each other holiday snaps on their phones than doing their jobs when asked why the long wait...my partner has a fracture in her spine which they missed last Friday night..come across as incompetent and treat patients like they are an inconvenience to their day. Worst hospital in the UK."
