"Popped in on the off-chance we could find a table and have a few drinks before finding a restaurant close by. The pub was lovely and the menu looked appealing so we decided to try it out. We weren't disappointed, it was fabulous and some of the best fish I've ever had. The pub looks great and we loved the beer mat covered ceiling. Well worth a visit for sure if you're in the area."

"The decor of this pub is amazing: exposed floorboards, a ceiling of old pump-clips and an assortment of antique objects. It's very popular for food although this can make it seem that every table is booked up. The beer choice is cask-focused and beers have always been well-kept in my experience. However, the beer choice is always - without trying to be rude - a bit 'random'. Obscure Yorkshire breweries such as Hilltop and White Rose, seem to dominate making it feel like you're in one of their taps rather than a supposed freehouse. It would be nice to se some of the better Yorkshire, cask-making breweries represented."

"Visited Hull Old Town today and so glad we did as it's a great olde area. Found this very traditional "boozer" and it's full of character and serves great food too .... I went for Hull Patty (can't beat 2 different ways to have potatoes .... except by adding more) and chips and was not disappointed."

"Came for mid week lunch. It was busy and was told 35 min wait for food which was fine. Had expected to wait around that time. After over an hour no food had arrived, we asked if our food was on its way to be told they're just starting it now and will be 10 minutes. In other words they'd forgotten about us. Other tables that arrived after us had received their food. After a further 20 minutes the food arrived - pizza and spaghetti Ragu. A wait of an hour and a half. The food was excellent though, better than we've had in Italian restaurants and great portion sizes. Unfortunately the service was dreadful and ruined the whole experience. As good as the food was it couldn't make up for the poor service. We were even sat in front of the bar, the bar staff could see how long we had been waiting but did nothing. So disappointed, we had heard such good things about the place and was really looking forward to visiting."

"Great food and a lovely pub, very cosy inside with lots of memorabilia. The food waiting time was a bit long but no complaints once arrived. Sadly no draft cider available and bizarrely no apple cider in bottles either ( only pear or fruit). Limited draft lagers on draft as well. But will definitely return for the food...the menu tempts us back"
