"Loved this stay. We found the deal on social media and gave it a whirl. We were not disappointed. I had contacted them in advance to check facilities as my husband has a disability. Our room was located conveniently near the lift and disabled parking right outside door. We ate in the restaurant and although the main course seemed to take a bit of time to be fair it was really good. Breakfast was superb, with a good range of cereals, fruit yoghurt and pastries with a broad choice of cooked items. We found all staff friendly and helpful. It's a gem of a hotel situated beside the Forest Park and I would definitely urge anyone to come along. They won't be disappointed. We will definitely return."

"After a recent last minute visit, we are already trying to plan our return trip! A true hidden gem, not to be overlooked. The staff were so friendly and helpful, we cannot speak highly enough of them, they all had a smile on their face and chatted away to us even after a busy new years weekend. The location is ideal for anyone visiting Castlewellan Forest Park (which is also unreal). We ate at The Yard Restaurant for dinner and breakfast, and have absolutely no complaints - food and cocktails were delicious. The rooms are bigger than you'd expect, while still being cosy. They are spotlessly clean, as are the spacious bathrooms. The only negative we found was that we didn't allow ourselves enough time to spend here. Overall - we loved it here, and cannot wait to return soon. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a getaway!"

"Each member of staff we had contact with were polite, friendly and engaging. Each part of the hotel was clean. Our room was lovely and spacious. The dinner menu had lots of choice. We enjoyed the parfait and mussels to start, fillet steak for mains and sticky toffee and white chocolate moose for dessert. The food and service were first class. The breakfast menu was extensive also. We enjoyed the fry and chorizo, black pudding and pouched egg hash. The location of this hotel is right at the gates of Castlewellan Park. We would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return."

"Lovely stay at Hillyard House. Gorgeous room, but due to extremely early work start, we requested to move away from the road (which normally wouldn’t have been a problem at all…but having to get up at five am meant trying to get to sleep very early). This was done really quickly by the extremely helpful and friendly staff…who I feel really cared about us as guests. Second room equally lovely. Breakfast..good choice and we also enjoyed a couple of very nice meals in the restaurant. If we’re back in the area, we wouldn’t hesitate to return to Hillyard and would definitely recommend. Every single member of staff deserves praise for making us feel very welcome and for such lovely service with a smile."
