"They are good at clipping Rosa's claws and give good snacks. She would want me to give give stars."
"Fantastic service, all of the staff are very friendly and helpful. My little dog recently had to have some antibiotics, Guy who treated her was incredibly gentle and caring and gave her a full going over to check she was in good health."
"Very good experience and friendly staff. Had a couple of emergencies over the last couple of years with badly cut paws which healed well. And good monthly subscription for rolling prescriptions."
"Our cat was literally starving to death and we believe that if we had stayed with Avon Lodge, our cat would now be dead. A month ago we sat on the sofa with our 14yr old cat and said “I think that’s it, we’re losing him.” After three years of chronic diarrhoea and a repeating cycle of tests and antibiotics to treat gut issues, ear infections and cold-like symptoms he was on a hypoallergenic soya diet and for the past year had continuously been losing weight. This weight loss had dramatically increased in the last couple of months and he had dropped from 4kg to just 3.3kg in just over 4 weeks. It was shocking to see as his adult weight had been over 6kg and a year ago had been pretty stable at 4.9kg. We had sought advice and treatment from our vet (Avon Lodge) 6 times in 10 weeks and each time, shared our careful records of what he was eating, excreting, antibiotic course dates and changes in his behaviour and habits. They just didn’t seem to want to listen, writing his decline off as “possibly due to his age”. Each time they just prescribed more antibiotics and repeat the same tests despite our growing anxiety about his extreme weight loss – even though he was eating almost twice the recommended amount of food every day. Feeling desperate, we decided to get a second opinion. This vet practice understood immediately how serious the situation was and we were given an appointment the same day and just a few hours after we called. We checked our cat in and spoke to the vet, who then spent time going over all the notes obtained from Avon Lodge along with our information, listening to us before examining our cat. One hour later we had a diagnosis of diabetes. Immediately he put our cat on a raw food only diet and administered a B12 shot. We were booked in 3 days later for a follow-up appointment. The raw food worked like magic – and our cat loves it. After just 24 hours, our cat pooped normally for the first time in 3 years and in those 3 days he also put on 300g. We are treating his diabetes and he has maintained his appetite, so that in 5 weeks he is now almost 5kg. He has pooped normally every day, his constant hunger yowls have stopped completely, and he is clearly feeling much better and doing some of things he used to that we had not seen him do for years. I am so angry that our cat had to suffer for 3 years without a diagnosis, but relieved that he is now receiving the right treatment from a vet practice who care."
