"My little dog was in pain. I phoned the Rocester branch ,only to find it was yet again closed. It was wonderful when privately owned, with the same familiar friendly faces. For my pets sake, I am now registered with another vet. I and other pet owners need a reliable caring service,as it once was."
"We have moved to another vet practice now as we didn't like the constant turnover of vets. working there. There was no chance to build up rapport or a relationship as we had when the practice was privately owned."
"The team at Abbeyfields are fabulous, they clearly care deeply about all the animals who visit which puts me at ease - even when I know I have to bring a stroppy cat to see them. They have looked after all my animals over the years and I trust their diagnosis implicitly. I am kept informed at all times on the pets progress. Great Team, easy appointment bookings, easy payment system."
"My elderly cat had an abscess on his tooth. I got an appointment very quickly and he was operated on the same afternoon to remove his tooth. He was discharged in the evening with medication and paperwork showing his X-rays and how to care for him after surgery. I was kept informed about his progress and the costs all the way through. He has recovered well and is back to normal. Sarah (the vet) showed care and consideration for his well-being and was very professional. The nurses (Fran and Gracie) are great and I always get an appointment when I need one, even at short notice, which is very comforting as my animals are all elderly now."
"Unfortunately I have to leave a very poor review for Abbeyfields vet Rocester. Please avoid this place at all costs and read on to see why. This vets is conducting its business without morals but don’t take my word for it I have attachments the invoices for proof. This nightmare began when our cat had constipation so my partner took him here without really doing any research as the cat was in a lot of pain and because it is very local to us. He then relapsed shortly after the initial visit and we had been assured of a free post op check up so my partner went back didn’t sign any liability form but when we collected him she was handed a second massive bill on top of the first huge bill. This all happened before I did some analyse of the invoices which I have to do as part of my job. When I reviewed the invoices I was shocked not only with the costs but also the charges for things we didn’t even receive. 1 x Feline X Ray £220. I phoned a few local vets and they are charging £70-80 for a single X ray. Even a human chest X ray can be done for £120 privately. Just Google it and phone around. 1 X Feline Bloods £125. Again this is 50% more than the national average. More criminal than this though is the charging for procedures that aren’t even spoken about/carried out. The cost of putting the cat under a general was £85 but we were only told he was sedated after collection. This is abbreviated on the invoice so I guess they were hoping questions were not going to be asked. In the second invoice same procedure no “general” (strange that) but a cost for daytime hospital day care of £52.80 even though when we asked to pick him up we were put off twice, hence his daytime care was not our liability. I assume they kept him all day for the second time with shorter treatment and no “general” just so they could bump up the bill. All in all the cat had 2 simple Enama procedures and we had a bill for £800. Seem high, that was all our friends and local pet owners thought so to. In fact we asked around and this vet has a history of overcharging but we got this info too late. When I have costed these procedures I get a total cost of £400-£500 max, hence I feel I have been overcharged at very least £300. Some vets have told me that the procedures were excessive and a simple diagnosis was all that was required. Hopefully this review will save other people a packet of money and hassle. Moving on the customer service I went in to discuss the costs. I was fobbed off and told by the vet was unavailable so I left my number for her to call me back for a chat. Guess what no call all week so I went in again. This time the vet sheepishly saw me brought an unknown man into her room with her. I started going through the costs and trying to get clarity on the discrepancies and high costs and didn’t get anything like a reasonable answer. In fact the unidentified man started to become aggressive (I assume he realised I had caught them out) and he started pushing me out of the door. I sure they will cry sour grapes but I have paid for vets before and will continue to do so without complaint if costs are fair and clearly laid out. My advice is please avoid this vets at all costs! Best regards"
