"Had the misfortune of being in a chain with this solicitors. They held the process up at several key points, to such a level that we lost our mortgage offer and are now paying an extra 50% on our monthly mortgage payments (in pure interest!) because interest rates went up dramatically between us starting the purchase process and when we finally completed. As I understand it, this only happened because the solicitor handling the chain at Underwoods was on holiday and simply refused to complete the sale, despite offers from the rest of the chain to cover the cost of bringing in someone in their absence to complete. If/when my family struggles to pay bills or make payments over the next few years, given that we’re in a cost of living crisis and the fact that we’re now paying an extra £400 a month in interest on our mortgage, I will be thinking of Underwoods and hoping that the solicitor’s holiday was pleasant."
