"Really lovely place 10 min walk into town Stayed here one night with my young son We did pooles caverns then walked the one road into town for a meal at lone star Mexican highly recommend! The room was large the staff lovely nothing was too much trouble. Clean and I love the charm to the building! Large bathroom with lots of large fluffy towels I really don’t get what people are complaining about on here? It’s literally been a breeze of a stay and I would return soon!"
"Room was comfortable, bed large. No hot chocolate on the hospitality tray. I don't drink tea or coffee. It's not expensive to add 2 sachets of hot chocolate. One small bottle of Buxton water for 2 guests. Bathroom dated. staff nice. Had a meal in the restaurant was average. No ambience at all. Especially in the bar area. Maybe some background music would have cheered things up. It's about a 15 20 minute walk into the town or 5 minutes by car. Breakfast was good. I would not return to Buxton or the lea wood Hotel but would not deter others to stay there."
"7 minute walk from Buxton, room was fantastic, biggest hotel room we've stayed in. Furniture was top quality. Had an issue with the lock on arrival but staff were super helpful and got us drinks in the bar while they sorted it. We stayed in the annex which was a few minutes walk from the main hotel building. We didn't use the hotel gym but might have been awkward walking from the annex. Limited good menu but what we ate was filling and delicious. We stayed during storm Otto and the wind did wake us up. Check in at 2pm out by 11"
"Apparently they were understaffed, you would never know! Staff were amazing from the receptionist who booked us in and showed us our room in the annex to the waitresses and catering staff. All exceptional people. Never saw anyone tidying our room, but they were great too. We were a party of 15, often a challenge to the kitchen, but not here. Food was hot, well prepared, delivered in a timely manner and tasted delicious. On the second night of our stay, there was a another large party of about 30 people. Food again served quickly, and the same quality as the night before, despite catering for well over double the numbers. The waiting staff served us and laughed along with us which was lovely. One poor waitress was even dancing with one of our party at breakfast both days. Hotel in is on a hill overlooking the town and a green space. Rooms were clean, well cared for and the bed comfortable. A short walk to the town, we discovers a craft fair in the Opera House, interesting and not too expensive. We staggered up the opposite hill to the highest marked in England. Buxton is full of history, has lovely parks and some good eateries and if you decide to come away from the hotel is well worth exploring."
"Great hotel, actually stayed here in May 22 but forgot to leave our review. Staff were excellent. Matthew was very understanding of our needs as we are vegans. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff from the reception crew to the restaurant servers. Room was great, whole experience was a pleasure. Everyone was so helpful & accommodating. Thank you, we will certainly be back."
