"Good central location. Have stayed here many times over the years. I was disappointed to see the suits of armour had gone. These were a huge part of the 'fabric' of the building. Added real character. My room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was disappointing as we had to wait quite some time before being spoken to. During this period, the owner appeared, but only to sit down and eat his own breakfast! What I really fancied on the menu was 'not available' although it was advertised as a breakfast option. Julie the Housekeeper does a great job and I had a pleasant chat with her before leaving."
"The room was just dusty there's a crack in the window the wallpaper has been painted over. They have done barge DIY around the doo TV is not clean . The beds were not pulled out and cleaned under and holes in the floor the breakfast was ok a bit cold"
"Prebooked a hotel for the week 2 months prior and tried to contract them through phone was impossible, the only time I could talk to them was when they rang me. Member of staff at the bar who booked it said there is no pre booking payment when I had the money to pay for it, last minute phone call two days before the visit, the manager rang me saying I haven't paid for the booking and demanded up front payment when I said I would pay it within the week as it is when I got paid but she rudely refused and demanded upfront payment, I tried explaining that I could have paid it and I wasn't informed on the ore booking as I would have pre booked it there and then but she blindly ignored me and still demanded money which I didn't have so I cancelled the booking and now having to sort out a last minute hotel booking. Rude, unprofessional and demanding. Absolutely disgraceful, save your money and look elsewhere, isn't worth the stress or hassle."
"At least the sheets and towels were clean, unfortunately that's about the only good thing I can say. The room was dirty and small, with a big single glazed panelled window facing the traffic lights so you could hear every single car driving through or sat idling. The shower was a bit disgusting but at least ran hot. The extractor fan didn't work, and neither did the main room light. Breakfast was a complete dive. Doesn't even start until 7:30 on weekdays, so no good for an early start. Instant coffee only, and warm juices. A small selection of cereals, and white and brown bread for toasting. I can't comment on the full English as I had to leave early. I hope to never have to stay here again. The staff were all polite and friendly, but management seriously need to take a look at modernising. The 'Athurian' aesthetic could still be maintained even if everything was cleaned up and sorted out. Seriously though, get some actual coffee for breakfast."
"This place is no better than a DSS hostel, Smelly rooms , curtains hanging down and showers that don't work. Beware the rooms are basic basic basic "!! Cheap and very nasty. Bathroom you can't move in it's so small ". This hotel and I use the the word loosely will take your card details and take payment before you even turn up even though they say it's to confirm the room , then the rooms that bad that they then refuse refunds. The breakfast is served next to the smelly bar the tables remain uncleared and your expected to sit there with other people's dirty plates because the staff say that they are too busy because they do everything "! . Website is misleading the place is a dump believe me if you stay here BEWARE"!!! Made a complaint to the manager who lied through his teeth . I stay in hotels every week and this is the worst hotel I've ever had the misfortune to stay at . Don't believe the reviews on this hotel there aged and false"!!!"
