"Just a note to thank the Hernia Clinic for the inguinal hernia repair they did for me in September. At the time I was worried if I would be recovered in time for a 103mile nonstop race along the Cornish coastal path which I had booked into for the end of January. I have attached a photo of the buckle I received for completing the race at the end of January. :) I didn't win but finishing was my main objective! Best wishes & thanks again! Andy"
"I (45M) had a left inguinal hernia repair at the beginning of Dec 2022. Mr Kirkby Bott and his whole team were extremely helpful and efficient throughout the entire process. I was somewhat nervous on the day of the op, and the team put me at ease with their friendly, calm professionalism. The follow up care was also excellent. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Hernia Clinic to anyone in need of their services."
"This is an excellent service - regrettably not available for NHS-only patients. My choice of it was because of other health conditions I was advised that total-anaesthetic surgery would not be advisable. The surgeon (not an orthodox smart-suited stereotype of a health professional!) agreed to operate on the basis of an examination, and the delay,, if any, was a matter of days. I was introduced to his anaesthetist, who after providing a an intravenous drip assured me that I would remain conscious but not in a "normal frame of mind". I had no further memory of the operational procedure. I do not remember being taken to the theatre, or any memories of what was being done to me. I recovered, back in my room, and was asked by the anaesthetist whether I remembered conversing with him, which I didn't (although he told me about the subjects of our "conversation"). I left the hospital the same day. The result of the operation was 100% success. After one week, the dressing detached itself, leaving nothing but a slight swelling and a small scar. I was properly followed-up post-operatively."
"I'm 51 and I had a pair of large bi-lateral inguinal hernias that I'd lived with for 30 years before plucking up courage to get them operated on. Initially it was the good reviews I'd read about the Hernia Clinic Hampshire which finalised my decision to have my consultation there. After my first consultation with Mr James Kirkby-Bott I knew straight away I knew I'd made the right choice. Everything thereafter was stress free and at every stage I was completely at ease, James and the rest of the staff were great. We discussed available options and I chose to have had both hernias operated on at the same time by the laparoscopy keyhole method. I went to theatre around 11am and I was back home that same evening, pain was easily bearable and by day 4 I was off all painkillers. I'd only needed ibuprofen for the first 3 day days. 1 week after the op I felt great, 2 weeks after I felt completely back to normal but followed all of the guidelines regarding how much exercise to undertake, 4 weeks after I could do light gym workouts and reduced all of the weights by 50% just to be safe, now at 10 weeks later I'm at full capacity and back to training on my gymnastics rings. Everything where the hernias were feels rock solid, no pain, virtually no visible scarring, feels great to have my life back again. Thank you James and the rest of the team at the Hernia Clinic Hampshire and at the Nuffield Health Wessex Hospital."
"Excellent repair of my hernia. Mr James Kirky-Bott, the consultant surgeon, paid full attention to my treatment in a professional and caring manner. He did the operation under local anaesthetic. I was able to walk out of the hospital within a couple of hours after a light lunch. There was no pain during or after the op. I was sore later in the day and I had to be careful how I moved for the following week. The care at the hospital was very good and the Hernia Clinic's administation was very good also. I was kept well informed through out."
