"I needed a toilet part. I kept ordering online but they would not fit, because the parts descriptions did not provide crucial dimensions information. Yesterday I visited Screwfix, Hyperion Way, Reading. The gentleman at the counter said I had to make an order online on the tablets at the entrance. I explained my difficulty and his response was "what can I do, I cannot help, I don't know the dimensions anymore than what you see on the screen ...". That meant I would have had to order and buy all the various part/s available, and then return any or all which did not fit. I left the shop. As I returned to my car I saw, around the corner, another DIY/plumbing parts store. The elderly gentleman at the counter there told me he understood exactly my predicament as there are many sizes on the market for various types of toilet cisterns. He looked it up on his machine, went into the shop, brought out the parts, we both measured the one that would fit, and I bought it. It took all of 5 minutes. I returned home and fitted it. I am grateful to the kind gentleman for his patience and helpfulness; I think younger people can learn from some of us who are "old school". 2 star for Screwfix, as however good they may be, which they are; they are not helpful to those who may not be DIY specialists."
