"Absolutely the best meal we have been served in some time. Make sure that you go hungry. From presentation, to portion to taste, full marks. Warm atmosphere, attentive staff. Accessible. Dining areas. Wonderful comfortable bar area around the fire. Highly recommended. Maria Hanson MBE"
"Probably the best pub Sunday lunch we’ve ever had! Beautiful & abundant pork belly followed by a home made fruit crumble to die for! Great host & servers who made us & our dogs welcome as we warmed in the cosy setting by the log burner & twinkly lights.Note: Food served 12-4 on Sundays at this little haven."
"I have been going to this pub on and off since august but didn’t eat here until the last week in October. I’m really fussy about food for my family after several bad experiences so always set my expectations low. However after reading some of these reviews I was somewhat cautious but it’s not far from me so I thought I would try it for myself. I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t wait long, the food was hot, the quality was great, desert was very good and people were friendly. I would give 5* however the vegetarian options weren’t great - perhaps a Sunday dinner with everything but meat? Also they aren’t open as frequently as I hoped resulting in me going to another pub for lunch. Since then I have eaten there on three occasions all of which were great. Congratulations to the new owner and chef - a great job"
"Popped in today 60 miles into a bike ride to quench my thirst. When I ask for a Coke, I don't mind if it's regular or diet. When I ask for a Coke, I don't mind if it's in a glass bottle, plastic or can. However when I ask for a Coke and discover on returning home that the beverage I was sold is over 6 months out of date I do mind. Explains why it randomly appeared out from a room behind the bar and not from the chiller. Lesson learned. 5* for the bottle of Harrogate water though."
"Fantastic pub in a beautiful setting. Didn't eat but some of the group did before I arrived, no complaints from those that ate. Honestly though, second time visiting, and the same most miserable chap behind the bar, presumably the landlord. Perhaps he's happy inside, but if he could just smile and tell his face how happy he is and maybe come across a little friendly this place would be amazing."
