"Stayed for 2 nights, reasonable price for JUST a room. 1 bed had a dirty bottom sheet (not the part you sleep on, just the part that covers the base) but the staff changed it immediately when i mentioned it. However, they didnt empty the bin or refill the coffee/sugar whilst they were housekeeping after day 1 which is a shame because they were really friendly and helpful, just short staffed. The internet connection was just 1 bar too. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel, same name but separate owners, it wasnt open for any kind of breakfast or lunch, only dinner so better to bring something with you as theres nothing around either and if walking, we ended up having to call a taxi because the road we wanted didnt seem to have a pathway either. So its a very basic somewhere to sleep only, but super friendly and helpful staff. If it wasnt for them, i probably would rated much lower."
"The Airman Hotel is the best local stay for a terrific price. I use the hotel for stays when working in the area and the new management are making improvements throughout. The large four poster suite has a view over looking the countryside. The room is clean and the bed is very comfortable while the sofa and table are handy for relaxing or completing some work. New floorings have been fitted in the bathrooms. The room has a flat screen tv and tea and coffee making facilities. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There is a large free car park and a very popular Turkish restaurant attached. At the price it’s great value and will be returning regularly."
"Quite old fashioned decor with extremely loud stairs, floorboards have definitely seen better days. Checked in around 6pm but no-one on reception, someone eventually came after phoning. Room was very spacious but due to the sloping roof quite difficult for fitting furniture. Bed was lovely and big but was right up by the door. Same with the bathroom, items seemed squeezed in. Only had a bath available with showerhead attachment so would suggest calling ahead to check the type of room available. Hotel is located on a busy roundabout but the town centre was only a 5 minute drive"
"This place is worse than Fawlty Towers. We booked this hotel a few weeks ago and they took card details etc and everything seemed fine! Before we left home, we rang them to check the booking was OK because we realised they never sent us an email confirmation. They answered the phone and said no booking was showing! I said well do you have a double room free? She said she did so we booked it again!!! When we arrived we couldn't find where to check in. There was a door open which presented us with some stairs with a sign saying "Bedrooms Only" so we didn't venture up those. We walked around the building and eventually found a bar and asked there were we check in and they took us back to the stairs with the "Bedrooms Only" sign and said it was up there!!! We went up the stairs and there was indeed a 'reception' area where two flustered females who were behind the screen and there were a couple of other guests waiting as we approached. I said we booked a room this morning and gave them our name. They said they didn't know anything and the manager was gone. "Is the manager coming back?" I asked, they didn't seem to know anything. The other waiting guests were also fed up and I said to my partner I'll get us some drinks from the bar while we waited to get sorted. I went to the bar and ordered a glass of wine and a beer - the wine was off!!! I said it was off and he said he'd open a new bottle - that glass was also off so I I said I can't drink that can I have my money back - he said he can't refund but can give me something else - I said I don't want anything else!!! The other chap behind the bar said "I can give you cash?" I said that would be great! Went back to the reception and gave the beer to my partner and now there was a chap behind the reception screen who seemed to be someone in charge but wasn't easy to tell. We finally got a room sorted after about 30 minutes. The actual room was fine. In the morning we wanted tea and found there were TWO tea bags which isn't so bad if you just want ONE tea each but there were NO spoons!!!!! We heard the cleaners in the next door room so went to ask them (these were the same flustered ladies from the night before) and she said there were no spoons. "What? No spoons in the entire building?!!!!" so we improvised. One last thing - there is building work going on - and there was a pole sticking out of the ground which I tripped over! This pole was on the way to the side entrance you use to get into the hotel after hours."
