"Terrible - - 3 different psychiatrists in 2 weeks all with different opinions. Even got my file wrong in 1 meeting... thank god I had someone with me or I would think I was even more ‘mad’ than I am. I had to go private in the end or probably wouldn’t be here now. Appalling."
"Terrible. Having to go private."
"This was my second stay at Sandpiper and hopefully my last. As lovely and sweet as the staff can be, I think Sandpiper is living proof of how corrupted the NHS really is. I was told that there is only ONE psychiatrist for the whole of the Walland Centre. There is 5 wards in total in the entire building..with roughly about 20 patients per ward. How they can except one person to listen to the needs of 100+ people Is beyond me. I have very little to say about the psychiatrist except that he is probably the worst I have ever delt with. I understand that his workload is incredibly high and he may have little time but that doesn't excuse his lack of eye contact, negative body language to his general neglectful attitude towards patients. This is the second time I have met Dr Mann and I felt that even though I was suicidal and experiencing intense and Psychiatric issues with withdrawal from medication, he still seemed to think I was fit for therapy. I had explained to him that I had been seeing a private psychologist for 4 months (paying her £120 an hour) who specialised in my disorders and she had told me that we could no longer work together until I was in a "stable" position. I explained this to Dr Mann but he insisted that I be discharged and to begin therapy in the community. It felt as though he just wanted to discharge me and move me on because there were too many people in the ward. I don't know if it was a personal thing, or that's just how he treats all his patients but either way, it is absolutely disgusting. The whole reason I was put on a 136 section was because the police, my psychiatrist (Dr Patel) a junior psychiatrist and a nurse wanted me to be admitted. They could all see how poorly I was and the look of concern on their faces, it showed a level of understanding that made me feel import while being in their care. That is a lot more than I can say for Dr Mann. While being in there I had broken down to the staff one more than one occasion but they had obviously failed to log it and tell Dr Mann as I was accused by him for "not engaging" I was also accused of "being out of the ward too often.' I was only out of the ward on two occasions and one of them was because I'd managed to overdoes and had to go to Kettering general hospital. Maybe the nurses hadn't made note of my overdose or Dr Mann just didn't read my record properly, I'm not sure, but either way, it was disgusting service and a perfect example of the lack of care given at St Marys Hospital. I wish I could give a nicer review but I can only express my own experiences. Judging from patients I have spoken to in the wards there and friends I have made that are still in the ward, it isn't a functional place to be in."
"my daughter us a patient , She has aspergers and ADHD and anxiety and deppresion and also severe insomnia. She had a issue with a medication at the weekend and z GP came out and she had to stop medication straight away The GP was concerned of the effect of the withdrawal and wanted her to be admitted to KGH buy a unplanned emission to have hospital is very streasily as they csn nit need her needs The GP agreed and she prescribed sleeping tablets and anti sickness meds and I was to call CMHT on Monday . I called first thing and I was called back at 16 45 ! during the conversation she said my daughter was due to see here psychiatrist next week but he is no longer there ! if my daughter had had a problem she would have arrived to find out he was no longer there ! I have infomercial thrm she will not be attending the appointment as it will be a locum who will have no attending as she does not cope with change and also it will be a locum. I have not heard anything all week and have had to deal with my daughters withdrawal my self and I am fortunate I have family and friends to help . I had a call yesterday r days after I contacted them bit was not able to take call Itchen started to get texts from my daughter I calked her and she was hysterical she had a call from her GP saying he had even asked by some one from CMHT telling himvyobperscribe another SSRI as she is already on one. I have no idear hoe this will help her sleep and she has already been on it before and it didn't have any effect on the deppresion. So again I will be on the phone again today trying to sort it out . If my daughter didn't have me and my family to deal with there lack of support and incompetence I dread to think what would happen ! They have a duty of care to there patients wich is clearly not there . The strain and steps that I am under having to deal with this is I'd now effecting my health as well. If anything happens to my daughter I will hold them responsible and I am looking to seek legal advise on this matter it is totally unexceptable ."
