"We stayed in Metro Hotel for a couple of nights in a double room. The staff were all very friendly and the lobby was very welcoming. The room felt like a little flat, as the bathroom and a separate kids room was attached in a hallway, so this was very cosy. The fixtures and fittings were all as expected and the whole room was very tidy. Little disappointed they never came with green tea bags and having to ask the day before the trip to have our room serviced felt a little inconvenient. Also don't understand why the tea table is in the kids room and not the master bedroom, especially as there is space in the master bedroom. We rested well and generally it was rather quiet (especially as we had the room right next to the road). However, what let this place down was the food experience. We ate at the restaurant once in the evening and had breakfast once. The food for the evening meal was okay, not as nice of quality as we expected but fine enough. The breakfast was really disappointing. We arrived at around 9am (breakfast is 7-10). We were told to help ourselves to continental, this included hot items and the waitress can make the tea or coffee. The gentlemen serving the hot items was miserable, not even a 'hello', and the quality of the food was not great. The cold continental looked like it had not been replenished, there was barely any bread, no pastries, not much of a selection overall. We found out there was a late delivery of items hence the low food, but then why were we not offered a discount on price? The cold continental was 10 Euros alone, so we felt like for what they had to offer it wasn't worth it. We also noticed once we sat down a menu that had set breakfast meals, this was not mentioned or offered to us upon entry or any time? I personally would have preferred a set meal from the menu, but the impression we got was we were not able to order. Generally, we slept well at the hotel, enjoyed our room (or little flat) and felt welcomed, but the food let it down. I'd recommend staying here, but only for the room."
"We were very pleasantly surprised with our stay at Metro Hotel. I was expecting good, but received great service from start to finish. The shuttle bus from and to the airport was super convenient. Our drivers were really friendly, giving us recommendations of places to visit and things to try during our 24-hour stopover in Dublin. The hotel is located near a bus stop that makes going to the city centre very easy, so we were able to visit Temple Bar for a pint of Guinness. Our room (and the whole building, for that matter) was spotless, the bed was comfortable and the kettle and coffee/tea in our room were greatly appreciated. If we ever come back to Dublin, whether for another layover or for longer, we'll for sure stay in Metro Hotel again! Thanks for everything!"
"Surprisingly good hotel. Great value for money. The receptionist was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The restaurant staff were polite and attentive too. The food was nice, well-made and warm. Some noise from the street, but not that disturbing. The proximity to the airport (10 minutes ride) is great for fly in-fly out guests. It takes some 30 min to the downtown, though. The hotel offers free airport shuttle service. Highly recommended."
"We were blown away by the Metro Hotel who unexpectedly upgraded our simple single room to a condo overlooking the city. Shocking and for no additional charge. The hotel is clean, front desk extremely helpful and their workout gym complete. We loved our stay and look forward to returning!"
"ORIGINAL REVIEW 4Stars: Hotel itself is incredible. Beautiful views of the airport and nice vantage points over portions of Dublin. Plane enthusiasts would certainly appreciate it. The accommodations are modern and spacious, a wonderful respite before a day of travel. The hotel’s restaurant had good food; but the service leaves a lot to be desired. The evening staff are clearly new or were never trained, as getting things right and getting things in a timely manner was pretty much impossible. We were asked our room number 3 separate times which served no purpose as we weren’t charging our food to the room. The early afternoon crew was more attentive and wonderful - believe her name was Amanda. Ultimately I rate the experience a 4 stars due to dinner service at the restaurant being so poorly prepared. Waiter wasn’t even sure how we could pay and management should make sure all employees are properly trained. UPDATED REVIEW: Have to lower to 2 stars, restaurant manager is unprofessional to a point that’s comical. Apparently they forgot to charge us for something we had at dinner, no problem as mistakes happen, how it was handled was downright insane. Instead of calling our room the restaurant manager, the employee, and a security guard come up to our room and knock and when not given an immediate response began to rattle the door knob. All this to chase up on €17 that they forgot to charge us due to their incompetence. I’m seriously disappointed in this behavior and will not recommend this establishment."
