"Very helpful and useful to me, and good value for money too."
"Friendly, helpful, competent and honest. Reasonably priced."
"Just an initial enquiry but polite and friendly. Will call back so mechanic can test drive and go from there."
"Used Danny for 30 years now, originally as a neighbour but now from across town. Always felt he's done an honest, good job on my vehicles as promised."
"A bit of disappointment on my last visit to Icknield garage, there was to say the least lack of communication from Danny as I took my Mercedes for its B1 service. Service was done and although the engine air filter wasn’t meant to be replaced, it was changed I was asked to pay just for the filter and not for the labour. I wasn’t asked if I wanted this to be done though, I only found about this upon collection. I didn’t complain at that moment as I thought it was done in good practice, I’m not that ignorant about cars and car engines, I know a nice clear filter helps towards the engine performance, etc. The issue became later when I realised that the cabin pollen filter replacement listed within the B service, wasn’t done. I needed now 3 weeks later after the service, the MOT to be done so I arranged this to be done ASAP and mentioned the cabin filter to Danny who advised that as far as he knew the pollen filter shouldn’t been changed although he said that he was going to check and if need it he was going to replace it. When dropping off the car for the MOT, he advised that the cabin filter shouldn’t have been changed and that he could change it if I wanted he would only charge me for the filter itself and not the labour. I confirm to Danny again that after speaking to Mercedes directly they confirmed that the cabin filter is part of the B service, Danny insisted that it wasn’t on this particular B service that my car required, he alleged that B services vary depending on mileage, etc. But the guidelines from Mercedes are very clear: Mercedes-Benz Service B* is a list of specific maintenance tasks that are performed at 20,000 miles or 2 years, whichever comes first. These exact services can vary depending on the model, but all Mercedes-Benz vehicles will require the following services: Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement**, Oil Filter Replacement**, All fluid level checks and corrections are dependent on factory-recommended service intervals for your vehicle’s year and model, Tire inflation check and correction, Brake component inspection, Reset maintenance counter, Cabin dust/combination filter replacement, Brake fluid exchange. I even got an email from the Mercedes dealer confirming this list. My car is only 25k miles and as per Mercedes guidelines the filter should have been replaced as part of the service package. I don’t know where Danny takes his information from and my issue here is not about the pollen filter itself which cost varies from £15 to £40, its not about that but about the fact that something that was not part of the B service like the engine air filter was changed (without previous consultation to me to authorise this) and something that should’ve been changed and been included within the service cost like the pollen cabin filter wasn’t. This caused me the unnecessary additional expense of two filters."
