"Reliable, fairly priced mechanic. I've tried a few mechanics in Ashbourne, co. Meath, over the years, Alan is by far the best I've encountered. I've been by a few times now and have not been disappointed. Would definitely recommend!"
"AVOID !!!!!, My daughter dropped her car over this business and spoke to Alan, The car lost power and cut out while she was out driving and this was the closest garage, She asked Alan to have a look at it and explained what was happening with the car, He told her to leave the car with him because she would not be able to drive it home ,He rang a few days later and said the car was ready to pick up that he fixed the problem, gave a list of the things that he said he replaced and fixed, new battery, spark plugs coil pack, and fixed the airbox, But said you will have trouble with the catalytic converter and he charged 800 euro , We taught that was abit expensive but paid it anyway because the car was fixed so we taught, As she was driving the car home the same problem accured , car lost power and cut out while driving back home on a busy motorway, she managed to get the car home, when i looked under the bonnet and the air box hose was hanging off which was one of the issues he said had fixed ,rang Alan and told him what has happened, And straight away he had a stinking manner, He refused to look at the car, And said it is not the same issue , that he is the mechanic not me, So she basically gave him 800 euro to to put parts into the car which she didn't ask for and not to fix the proplem with the car, So AVOID with all cost as he only wants money and does not care about anybody's safety, Could have easily being in a very bad accident because she trusted that he fixed the issue, So based on you're reply as below, Your are confirming that's you charged for the air box to be repaired which it was not, And on the phone you said you fixed the issue of the car losing power and cutting out, which is still doing the same after five minutes from leaving the garage, People need to stay away from this garage AVOID AVOID"
"The alternator failed on my jeep and I managed to roll into N2 garage, Problem was diaganosed and part ordered by garage within the hour and fitted and back on the road the following day. Excellent service from a garage whom I had never dealt with before and since the garage man was working on his own he fitted in the repair to allow me back on the road. ML 320 cdi"
"I rang looking for a quotation and the guy i spoke with was extremely rude. Didn't seem to want the business and his attidue stank. Blabbered on about not wanting to be wasting his time quoting me on a job he might not get. Will take my business elsewhere and will advise anyone who asks to avoid also. Would give zero stars if i could, maybe needs to do a course in communication and customer services. 2/2 In regards to the response below, i never said i disliked any prices, im hardly going to go with the most expensive labour rates am i?? Maybe when you take that course in communication/customer service skills, you get your ears tested too. Of course i would require the job be done to the highest standard, i wanted to save money if possible, you think i just asked for a quote for the craic?"
"Worst experience ever! We came to this place to repair the A/C of the car (Only Air conditioner) and we were told the tyre (we did ask to check), battery, brake pad, clutch cylinder are not in condition and needs to be changed immediately. The car had passed the NCT in May 2022. We had a road trip planned in 3 days time and informed him of this at the time. We told him to not waste time on investigating the A/C as it would be too expensive. We told specifically to not spend more than 2 h. After three days, we got our car back without repairing the A/C but he did say that he think he knows the solution. It's okay to not resolve the problem in this timeframe but what made us upset is the unreasonable charge of labour. We wish that the mechanic gave an approx quote, at least to check if the customer can afford the bill. For the investigation, we were charged 5 hour's of labour 85 euros excl tax (excluding other expenses). Finally we got a bill for €1284 without fixing the A/C, out of the 6.5 h of labour, 5 h (€85 per hour excl tax) was charged for the investigation on how to fix the A/C. He did offer free labour charge to fix the A/C (but we have to pay approximately 600 euros for the gas and parts). Since he had taken apart the dashboard for investigation new issues had come up. When we went to the mechanic after the road trip, he would not agree with us that the new issues were after the investigation. He finally did fix the new issues. What upset us is when he called us an awkward customer after paying for something we didn't get the full service off. For any average earning family, the first thing they look for is the price of the item/service. This ensures if they can afford the bill. Next time, all we are asking for is to give a heads up on an estimated bill so then the customer can decide whether to go ahead with the work or maybe delay it by a few months. First time we got a very worst customer service experienced in Ireland. Highly not recommended this guy. As someone mentioned in the old review just moneymaking mentality not for providing good service."
