"Lovely day out seeing seeing well preserved steam engines and historic station buildings. The carriages too are authentic of course. The staff are very helpful and keen to answer questions about the railway. The restaurant is reasonably priced and the food was good. Not cheap for a family of 3 adults and one child but worth it! Children's tickets are cheaper."
"Superbly run, the staff are of course enthusiasts themselves. A great trip out with many trains on display in the locomotive shed. Plus an educational museum and good shops and cafe, highly recommended. Only £5 per adult to access the platform excluding train rides"
"Attended a murder mystery here, ‘Dead on Time’ (set at the end of the 1920s) and everything about the evening was superb! The scene was set in a theatre environment above the bar before boarding the train. Our dining carriage, Christine, dated from the same era and has been beautifully restored. The food was good, service was very friendly and attentive, and the steam train journey through the beautiful countryside was stunning. As for the murder mystery, the actors were brilliant; individually visiting each table twice during the meal to be quizzed by us amateur detectives. An absolute brilliant evening; I’d rate it 6 stars if I could."
"A beautiful steam heritage railway near the South Downs National Park. We were fortunate enough to visit on a beautiful sunny day with the bluebells along the route flourishing! We didn't get the opportunity to stop along the way because of time constraints but it's obvious that there's so much more to see. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you like heritage railways or great British history!"
"We had a great time riding on the trains and learning about locomotive history. Unfortunately due to the storms a few nights before one of the main stations had no power so we weren't able to get off and enjoy the play area there. This information wasn't updated on the website so we had to re-jig our morning. Cafe was great, toilets were clean and there was plenty of parking. Staff were very helpful and friendly with the children. We hope to go back in the summer and explore some more!"
