"Love this little cafe. Always order 2 fresh doughnuts, which are warm and delicious, and a coffee and I sit in the nook at the back, staring out to sea, aquiring many pigeon friends, of course. Don't let that put you off, they go away if you ignore them! The service is always super friendly, smiley and relaxed. I first came here because The Pier no longer serves just 1 or 2 doughnuts, you have to buy 5, so for solo guzzlers, The Beach Hut is perfect. Here is my pic of the view from my usual perch at the back of the cafe, a fitting view of 'The Doughnut'."
"Good food, sometimes they dont have the choices in their menu but still have plenty to choose from. Good portions, I’m always full when i visit. Only gave 4 stars because it takes quite a while for your food to arrive, but it’s understandable as they only have 1 chef. Would highly recommend if you want to try Filipino food, and i would definitely come back"
"Came here for friends bday meal , there was around 12 of us. It was very busy. All ordered mixture of food, roasts, fish and chips, Shepard’s pie etc. The service was chaotic , a drinks order took very long to arrive as did some extra cheese. One of the waitresses was excellent seemed to be the only one who knew what she was doing. The other staff forgot stuff when asked . Asked for some cheese three times . Finally asked the good waitress who sorted it. Understand it was busy but service needs improving . Food was tasty and large portions"
"We used to go to the Amsterdam when we lived in Shoreham many years ago and so decided to celebrate my mother's 92nd birthday there last Sunday. The menu seemed great but alas we were very disappointed. We had to wait over an hour for 2 simple starters and then another 25 minutes for our main courses and the optimistic comment from the cheery waitress that she "hoped the wait would be worth it" could not have been more ironic. The "roast trio" of beef, pork and turkey looked and tasted as though it had been bought, sliced, from the local Iceland store, the vegetables were overcooked and tasteless and as for the Yorkshire pudding, they were like cannonballs of undercooked dough. In addition, the fish and chips was a struggle to find the fish in amongst the excess of batter. Such a shame since we all have fond memories of the Amsterdam restaurant of our youth. We cannot however fault the waiting staff, who remained cheerful and polite throughout, although the repeated comment that "it won't be a second" for the food to arrive sadly proved to be very true. It wasn't a second, it was an age!"
"I had the best doughnut of my life here two years ago, freshly made and warm and covered in granulated sugar. I've been living in Brighton again recently and will definitely come back."
