Chi's Fish Bar Wootton Hope Drive, Wootton, Northampton NN4 6DY

"I've been coming to Chi's for around 20 years and never written a review, so here is my experience. In those 20 years I've had probably less than 3 issues. Orders are always correct, change is always correct and food is generously portioned. I've eaten from both the Chinese side and fish and chips several dozen times in those 20 years and never had an issue. Some of the comments about the Chinese portions being "2/3 full" is an absolute lie, they're packed to the brim every time. Tonight I placed a large order and the fish that were left were fairly small, so without asking the lady gave me 2 for 1 to make up for it. They do care about their customers as most are regulars. Prices are good (I've had fish 3 times the cost which have been poor in restaurants). Chis have been criticized for the Chinese giving tummy problems etc but that's never been the case with me. I've had Chinese's around town which have given me poisoning but Chis is always my safest go to Chinese. Probably my one criticism is that in 2023 they should be accepting card payments, however there is a cash machine and co op 10 feet away. Bumping the ratings up because they're underrated and overly critizised by overly critical people."

"Very inconsistent. Been twice 1st time was average but the chips were nice and so were the sweet and sour balls. Special curry was pretty good and BBQ spare ribs were ok if not slightly over cooked. Second time, not good at all. Chips were so greasy and soft, you'd think a fish and chip shop would do good chips? Sweet and sour balls were greasy. Chow mein was bland. We couldn't eat most of it."

"The Fawlty towers of fish and chips shops. They're pretty rude and the chips appear greasy but actually they taste pretty good and the curry sauce is the nicest I've had for a long time. If the service was better, they'd probably be more successful as the food isn't bad."
