"We hadn't booked and the staff found us a table. It was a Saturday night so quite busy. The location is lovely right on the river. The staff were polite and friendly. The food was great. You can order from your table or at the bar. Definitely worth a visit."
"Dropped in for a drink as our Christmas party passed through about 6pm. Went to the bar and was spoken to by a member of staff who asked for our booking. We explained that we weren’t staying, we were having a drink before we moved on to our next place. There were 16 of us but the bar was empty, so not disrupting anyone. We were told that without a booking we couldn’t stay, we repeatedly explained that we were simply having a drink at the bar before we moved on, we didn’t need a table. The member of staff was adamant we couldn’t stay and asked us to leave. We were all sober, 16 drinks in the till - easy money. What kind of empty bar turns away customers? Don’t believe the news, these guys are clearing up and don’t need your business. Go to The Rose down the road, more than happy for you to have a drink in there."
"I've reviewed based on my preferences. The staff were polite, and the food was nice. It's good value for money, and the menu has some really great plates and drinks. For me the atmosphere let it down, but as I'd said it's based on my preference and the atmosphere is moreso down to client base rather than the establishment itself!"
"Since changing the seating plan downstairs to cram in more covers, it's lost it's original draw as I enjoyed sitting on the sofa / armchairs, but understandable in the current economic climate. Pack 'em in like sardines! Good bar, if you can miss the rush / certain hours where it seems to turn in to a creche and fills up with little screaming goblins / bundles of joy depending on your viewpoint... Bring back the buttermilk waffles on the brunch menu! Still a nice little place to grab a quick drink or bite to eat."
"I was attracted by the appealing ambiance and visited the lounge. There were very few guests present. I ordered a hot chocolate. After a good 20 minutes I got it after asking again. The price was £3.60. I paid with a £5.00 note. They wanted to bring me the change. After another 20 minutes I left the lounge with no change. I couldn't finish the hot chocolate because it wasn't to my liking. So this was my first and last visit to the beautiful lounge."
