"Table booked for 6pm on a Saturday evening. There were a bunch of women outside arguing with the bar man about a bill not being paid or something? The bar man was polite to us and clearly flustered by being shouted at by a group of women. Dramatic start to the evening! Inside we were told to wait at the bar but were told by the barman he can't make our drinks yet as he had loads of orders lined up. When we were sat, we ordered a jug of sangria and jug of water. The water never came and they took our food order before we received our sangria, 25 minutes after ordering. The food was nice but nothing special and it wasn't hot, just warm. My friend didn't eat her hake as she said it didn't taste right, but she's not one to complain, so still paid for it. It was really loud in there and we didn't love the sangria and they brought us the wrong bill. It was fine but I preferred it in their old venue. It was the same volume as a cocktail bar, which I guess it is also, but I would just prefer quieter vibes at a restaurant."
"Lovely place to have a meal. Friendly and welcoming staff. The food was excellent. Plenty of parking available around the area too. Definitely would visit again."
"Had a cracking meal here. Works Christmas party. Food was fantastic and the service was great. A few drinks orders for confused/wrong but nothing that wasn't fixed. I would go again and would recommend"
"Four of us went for a tapas dinner which was absolutely spot-on! The wine list, cocktail and food menu had lots of choice and the prices were great. The décor is fabulous, and the staff were friendly and attentive. We had a nice table in the window, the order was taken quickly, and the food tasted delicious. We had olives (succulent) and bread as a starter. Then we each picked 2 dishes from the tapas menu. My favourites were the pan-fried chicken livers, Montbru garrotxa ( goats cheese with fig relish) and the crispy sesame chicken with honey & bbq glaze. They also had my current favourite wine on the wine list! Bonus. So after Espresso Martini’s it was a bottle of the delicious Spanish red ‘The Guv’nor’. This tapas restaurant is a must for people living and visiting Bridgend. We’ll definitely return when we visit again next year. - - #reviewer #lacochina #lovemyjob #guvnor #tapas #redwine #supportindependent #restaurant #foodexperience #bridgend #localbusiness #wales #familycatchup"
"Absolutely amazing experience! Food was very nice, fresh, well seasoned, beautifully presented, exceptional I would say. My husband has gluten allergy so we are always nervous when dining out. They have GF options marked in the menu (reassuring from the start) and there are loads to choose from. Some dishes can be adapted to be gluten free. Amazing attitude by the staff towards the allergy issues. Checked and double checked with the chef to make sure everything my husband ordered was gluten free and it was! Thank you!"
