"This pub is huge. It has many floors, you can get lost. The drinks are standard pub drinks. It has a great relaxing vibe. The upstairs restaurant has average food, not the best food I had. It was very busy. I would come back when I’m back in Brighton."
"We were in Brighton on Sunday, after hitting the shops we fancied a Sunday Roast, Googled 'best roast in Brighton' The Walrus, Ship St came back, so we decided to give it a go. The Pub is amazing, with loads of different levels and interesting decor, a far cry from when it used to be Smugglers Bar. We sat in the Restaurant, very nice indeed. The food portions are massive, I couldn't finish mine (a rare occurrence), I had the Sirloin of Beef, good taste 3 thick slices, a huge Yorkshire pudding and loads of well cooked Veg, the Gravy although plentiful, lacked flavour. My wifes Pork Belly was very nice but the crackling was weird, deep fried and tasted artificial. Our children's food, again, excellent portions and very tasty according to the kids. The bill was very reasonable £70 for five Sunday Roasts and a round of drinks. I would have given five stars but for the Gravy and Crackling. Service was relaxed and efficient,we will definitely return."
"Now normally my friends and I meet here for dinner about once every two months and have an enjoyable experience. However, on the last occasion there was confusion regarding our booking. My friend had booked a table for 8pm. When we arrived the lady serving us looked completely confused as to why we were there?? She told us that our booking had been cancelled by my friend who had booked it. She said she had just received the phone call confirming the cancellation. Well, this is not correct. My friend had told noone else about the booking and we had been sat enjoying a drink in one of the local pubs before hand and the booking was not cancelled? It was fairly busy and it crossed our minds that perhaps this was a ploy to make us leave. It was very odd indeed. The waitress was also a little snappy with us. Despite this mishap we will be dining there again as normally it is very nice to dine at Bella Italia. If it were to happens a second time then that will be that."
"We stopped by the Coppa Club for brunch this weekend. A busy & popular spot in the Lanes. Lots of tables were taken but we got a table for 2. Very friendly staff. Standard menu, nothing out of the ordinary, or that you can’t get anywhere else. 2 black Americanos, a beer, a Bloody Mary, a full English breakfast & avocado on toast. Food came out quite quickly. My avocado on toast with 2 poached eggs was very mediocre - no fancy little twist or anything special. Some places serve this fish with a fancy garnish, or with feta or.... not at the Coppa Club. Ah well. It was nice enough but it was no better than the avocado toast I make at home. Best part of my brunch was the Bloody Mary which was perfect. Otherwise a very ordinary brunch."
"Just what you expect from an old school Chinese takeaway. No frills but tasty. I had chicken with ginger and spring onions. Massive portion, lots of chicken and veg. Only thing I'd say is egg fried rice is a bit pricey at 4 quid."
