"We always like to come here when we visit Malahide and we've never been disappointed. This evening was no exception. In fact, it surpassed previous visits due to an amazing touch of thoughtfulness. When making the booking online, several weeks ago, I mentioned that it was my birthday but, more importantly, my wife really liked their chocolate fondant dessert. Fast forward to tonight and, with no fondant on the menu, she ordered something else. To our surprise, the manager/owner(?) arrived with a one off chocolate fondant dessert for her and singing 'happy birthday' to me! Add to this, an issue with a main course was resolved quickly and without fuss. Generally, the staff are very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable and the food is excellent. It's easy to give top marks but tonight they went above and beyond."
"We visited here last night, our first time. First impressions were that the tables were too close together, too many in a small space. We were seen to by our server quickly and drinks ordered while we checked out the menu. A great selection of great dishes which we chose starters and mains from. We both had Scallops & Beef cheek which was absolutely beautiful. For mains I had pan roasted Monkfish, two small pieces of which one was way over cooked and an effort to cut through. The meal was very nice but the fish should have been the star and let it down badly. My date had the Balsamic glazed Pork belly which was outstanding and 10 out of 10... we had one drink with our meal and waited 15min to try catch an eye for another drink. The young staff were either gathered around the bar or going down stairs to the pink bar. After 20mins without a drink I went up and asked for the bill. On a side note the room has a high ceiling but is small enough, there were two tables on the other side of the room who were very noisy and several people looked annoyed by this and the fact the staff were not asking them to respect others. €100 for a beer and a glass of wine. Two starters and two mains is not excessive but because of the fish, the service and the over cramped/loud room I would not recommend it as value for money. I was told by a local "Standards are slipping and they are trading on their name""
"Came here for brunch and coild not say enough good things about the food and service. We orderd about 5 dishes between 3 adults and we were ecstatic about the delivery, quality and taste. The food was as goid/better than some 'michelen ' restaurants ive been too. We had the cod bengiets, tempura fish and some other dishes. Everything was outstanding. Shout out to John(manager of the restaurant). He was so accommodating and really understands his role in hospitality. His staff also exuded the same qualities. The cocktails were delicious also. The restaurant has the nice ambience of an old house that gives each level/room its own cosy atmosphere. I returned a few days later for dinner but was a tad disappointed. I ordered the pork belly. The skin totally missed the mark. It was neither crispy nor soft. It was an inbetween a sticky chewy consistency that didn't want to exit my back teeth. The gruyeer mashed potatoes lost the potato taste and were also very sticky 'paste' like but edible. Service again was excellent and cocktails too. I would still very much recommend this restaurant. You won't be disappointed."
"Brought my friend to Bon Appetit for Afternoon Tea to celebrate her Birthday. Such a great experience from start to finish. Staff were friendly, attentive and incredibly efficient, loved the afternoon tea - delicious and filling! It was nice to try something different and feel a little fancy. Would highly recommend!"
"I probably expected something more intimate but the dishes were great and staff was very gentle. Also desserts tasted good especially the salted caramel."
