Reviews
"Everything we had here was delicious! Loved the chicken wings special, the salmon and tuna nigiri combo, Michi roll and the hand rolls. We were impressed by the quality of the fish"
"Probably the worst sushi I ever try. The color of the tuna was very questionable but the taste was worse. Definitely not fresh. I wasn’t about to review until I got sick."
"I’ve eaten at Michie Sushi Ranelagh a few times now and it’s probably my favourite Japanese food restaurant. The dining area is always clean and organised with a lovely aesthetic which provides a nice, cozy atmosphere and the service is excellent with friendly, welcoming staff. When it comes to the food, it certainly exceeded my expectations the first time I came here and the quality never failed to maintain those standards since my first visit. The waiting time for food preparation is relatively short and portion sizes have never been an issue in my experience. Their menu offers a wide selection which will satisfy even the pickiest of eaters and they have good set of options suitable for vegetarians and vegans. One of my favourite dishes here, for example, is the Tofu Yaki Udon, comprised of Yaki Udon noodles, tofu and a variety of vegetables, as the name suggests. For anyone going here for the first time or who isn’t very familiar with their menu, I would strongly recommend the Fujiyama Roll from their special menu, which is one of the best foods I’ve ever eaten. It may seem a little pricy at first sight, but don’t be fooled by this; it’s worth it! I think they only offer it for dine-ins, so that’s worth noting for anyone who’s considering getting a take-away or delivery instead. I usually like to go here on my lunch breaks (alone or accompanied), but the food that’s offered is suitable as much for lunch as for dinner. I would especially recommend this spot for anyone going on a casual or semi-casual date, but it’s certainly not limited to that and makes for a good option for small family outings too. The restaurant is somewhat hidden but it’s honestly a small treasure trove that’s just waiting to be discovered"
"Not awful, but for anyone who appreciates good sushi I'd recommend passing on this spot. I ordered 3 rolls based on decent reviews and was really disappointed with what was delivered. Lot's more effort needed and nowhere near justifiable for the price."
"I have been absolutely gumming for sushi the last while. I follow a couple of Japanese restaurants on Insta and their photos has had me increasingly titillated. For a restaurant that is Instagram used very well as it literally gets them a hungry person in the door. So tonight, I ordered online from @michiesushi in Ranelagh. Himself got the tuna and salmon mixed sushi platter and some gyoza. I got everything you see on this plate, 2 tubs of wakame and a mochi for dessert. I'm no expert in Japanese food but I look for certain things when I try a new restaurant: the quality of the sushi rice, the freshness of the ingredients and that clean, sweet flavour you can get from really great sushi. It's all present here with the added bonus that the nori (the seaweed wrap) used was better than any I have had in Dublin before. It was soft and added to the cone rather than just set its boundaries. Highlights of the meal were the spicy tuna cone, the wakame, the sashimi and the mochi, which I dare say may have been made on the premises, which was a completely new experience from me. On top of that, when you order through their website for the first time, you are offered a 20% discount. I am completely blown away."
