"We paid £899 for a 7 night stay in June 2022 (which included the £150 supplement for using the hot tub - the main reason we chose this place over others). In total there were four of us, myself, my wife and our two small children, aged 5 and 2 respectively. Upon arrival, our first impressions of the place were good, the barn is well furnished with a good quality finish throughout; a nice little welcome pack was provided; and a greeting from the owner of the place was received as long as a long list of 'hot tub rules' that we had to sign for. Whilst we had a lovely holiday here and the facilities were generally good, we all felt slightly uncomfortable by the long lists of rules that are stuck everywhere throughout the property, telling you what you can and can't do. In total, I counted 31 separate signs stuck around the place. We were also surprised that one morning, following mistakenly leaving the outdoor furniture cushions out on a 28 degree evening, they were confiscated by the owner before we came down in the morning. Pathetic behaviour. We also felt a little uncomfortable with the owner of the property turning up twice daily under the pretence of 'hot-tub checks'. This felt like an invasion of our privacy and I note the previous reviews on Tripadvisor and Google Reviews that talk about privacy being an issue. This is indeed the case and the site is also actually quite noisy, located directly on a 60mph road (where motorbike riders were regularly speeding past at over 90mph); opposite a busy agricultural site and directly behind a very noisy mainline train line. I also felt the property wasn't overly clean. Considering 'the rules' for checkout are that everything needs to be as clean as it was when you received it, upon leaving - and that you are also expected to strip your own bed linen, empty all of the bins and empty the dishwasher (all before 9am!) - the hard floors in the downstairs were all quite dirty, leaving us all with black socks on the first evening when we got changed for bed. The kitchen was also 'surface clean' but could have done with a deep clean for sure. In summary, we enjoyed the holiday, but would not return again. I think the owner needs to understand that if you are charging people nearly £1,000 for a week, then you need to be a bit more relaxed in your approach to hosting people. Whilst it may be your property, it isn't your 'home' when you are letting it out to other people."
"Stayed at Redroofs this last week and were really happy with everything. The barn itself is in a beautiful, quiet area and is spot on. We were impressed with accommodation and Sally was really friendly. Returning from a days out and getting in the hottub was the perfect end to each day. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area."
"Reasons why I wouldn’t stay again: - Dog escaped through the “fence” - The place was not clean - Way too many over the top rules - Noisy area - Owner too involved - Dirty floors - Low sofas - No outdoor drinks or music - £20 charge to post a lost bracelet - Late deposit refund Don’t waste your time booking here."
"We visited for a long weekend with our teenager and energetic dog. The barn was so comfortable and had everything we needed including the hot tub and wonderful views. A warm welcome from Sally (adhering to covid restrictions) and some yummy treats waiting for us in the kitchen. The only downside is that we didn't book to stay for longer"
"Absolutely beautiful barn with everything you need! Beautiful homely touches and a warm welcome from Sally. Our boys loved the huge chocolate cake and treats that awaited us on arrival. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
