"We commissioned Tom to source the timber and produce a dining room table and bench for our new house near Norwich. We started the journey by visiting his workshop in Loddiswell, Devon where we were made to feel most welcome and were able to see, first hand, the standard of his craftmanship and to meet some of his equally skilled colleagues. Tom steered us through the intricacies of the process and at all times provided answers to our questions in a clear and concise manner. We were given ample time and choice to make our final decision and, once we had, Tom began the procurement and manufacture, keeping us appraised throughout. The end result were two pieces of furniture of outstanding quality and design which now grace our dining room. Tom and a colleague delivered and assembled the table personally, which was a round trip of 700 miles. The items almost feel like a part of the family and live and breathe with us. "Tom and his team at Orpago are true professional craftsmen and we cannot recommend them highly enough. Having searched all over for a distinctive but simple table and chairs to complement our new kitchen, we were delighted to find Orpago's lovely website, and treated ourselves to a weekend in Devon and a visit to their workshops. Tom listened carefully to all our ideas and aspirations and has crafted beautiful pieces which have completely surpassed our expectations. Right down to choosing the specific pieces of oak which has the kinds of colour, tone and markings in that we liked and a finish that would be practical for a kitchen as well. Tom took time and care to work through all the fine details of the design with us to make sure it would be suitable, like the depth of the rail and the construction of the extra leaves. We chose two different designs of chair to give ourselves options depending on how may we want to seat at one time. He also adapted the design of the chairs to make two lovely bar-stools as well. Even if you can't make a trip to visit them, the website has a great customisation tool and Tom sent us samples of woods to check the colour and finish, which were very accurate. Tom has been a pleasure to deal with at all times and we are very happy that we took the decision to ask him to produce these for us. We will definitely be back for more at the first possible excuse!
