"We go there for steak night. 2 fillet steaks and a bottle of wine for £30. Delicious steaks too. What's not to like. Going to try Sunday lunch next, looks fabulous."
"Food is superb here, never had a bad meal, my favourite is the Sunday roast, by far the best around. I recommend booking though as its very busy."
"Went for the steak night & inclusive bottle of wine - £30 for two. Food was spot on, there was plenty and the steaks were delicious. Well worth a visit and the place was full."
"I have to say I was expecting better. I always read reviews and Scholars had plenty of good ones, so I booked my partner+ my brother+ his wife in for Sunday carvery. I'd spotted a very smart conservatory through the gate, situated further up the lane+ hoped we'd be seated within it. No such luck. It was a dull+ damp day, which didn't help matters, but stepping through the door in the wall,( surrounded by beautiful plants+ hanging baskets) , I was disappointed at the drainers of the exterior courtyard. To access the lunch room I had to drag myself up some 20+ steps. Being exterior steps they were wet and due to build up of slime/ algae, were quite treacherous. I should add I am disabled and use a stick.Had I know this there is no way I would have booked. The carvery was very mediore, generous portions, edible but unexciting .I'd say 90% of patrons were over 65 so the boom boom boom blasting out of music box seemed somewhat odd+ it made conversation difficult."
"Superb food. Very capable chef. The best Leek & potato soup we had ever tasted. You need to be able to climb an external staircase to access the old village school classroom which is the restaurant. Good handrail and log fire."
