"The place was lovely clean and welcoming The staff were lovely and were lovely but had to send my meal back as it was cold. My grandson enjoyed the colouring items... will be back"
"Nice pub that is very clean. Nice ample parking and good service from the staff. I only had a starter and dessert but the dessert was terrible. Feels like it was warmed up in the microwave as it was so hot in some places. I probably won't ever eat here again but the London pride was very nice. Will come back for ales but not the food. Deserves its 4 stars but never a 5."
"We have used this pub as a local most weekends with no issue, for the best part of a year and even get on with the staff. Food isn't great, but we have enjoyed the atmosphere. One evening the owner or manager decided to throw around his weight, and make complaints regarding some adult language although none of the other pub goers were concerned. He decided that he had a problem with it and threatened to remove us from the premises, although this is exactly what you would expect from an evening in a pub with adults drinking. We have decided to take our custom elsewhere rather than feel unwelcome and thank this man for this."
"Really enjoyed the Sunday lunch, the beef melted in your mouth. Staff friendly, really nice inside the pub, clean and inviting. We tried this place after walking into the claregate pub,oh my god never again, vile place we soon walked out.glad we found the dog and gun!! Will be returning."
"When entering the Dog and Gun you could see that it was a fairly quiet local pub with few customers in. The Pub overall had a nice atmosphere and a very cosy vibe. It had a lovely country feel to it with an open fireplace. We had to order ourselves at the bar and put the cutlery out which was disappointing given that we would have expected table service in similar venues of the same chain. The lighting was also good inside. There was a little bit of a draft coming in from the entrance due to the proximity of the table near it but it was relatively comfortable. Food and drinks were delivered quickly after we ordered. The mains we ordered were lackluster in terms of our expectations. The Classic Chicken Burger topped with BBQ pulled pork came out cold. After raising this with a member of staff she said she would 'check this for me' as though I was lying about the temperature of my meal. After disappearing into the kitchen for 5 minutes she then reappeared to agree that the dinner was in fact cold. She then proceeded to ask if I would like the meal reheated or a fresh one cooked! I believe that no restaurant should EVER ask if you would like something reheated and should always be cooked fresh. The Belgian Chocolate Brownie Dessert left a lot to be desired as it was too thick and didn't actually taste all that chocolatey. It was also quite rich and very gooey. The Caramel Apple Crumble Pie was satisfactory. The custard had some congealed skin on the surface which left a inconsistency with the overall dish. The filling and the pastry itself was tasteful and filling. Using the facilities we did notice that there was a door in the women's toilet held open by beer mats which was inventive as it was situated close to the driers. The service in the pub was friendly but had started to get slower towards the end of the night which given the level of trade in the pub was not a good sign. One of the cubicles did not lock and the other had danger tape on it. Overall, we would be hesitant to return as we found it to be average overall. A 5/10."
