"It's a pretty bleak place in the middle of winter but it has a certain mystique about it. Its history and the fact that it's off the beaten track makes it special. Unfortunately, the bins by the main gate are overflowing, something which appears to be a recurring problem."
"Difficult to get to (although now more accessible from new Barking Riverside Stn), scruffy, untidy building sites and industrial buildings, and the refuse depot stinks - but the history of Creekmouth village depicted on two murals is fascinating! One mural is almost opposite the pub on River Road, telling stories from village life and the disastrous floods in 1952/3. Another plaque inside the park depicts a map of the village before it was finally demolished in 1958, with lists of the families that lived and scratched a living there for generations. Some of the information is available online, but much better to go there next to the Barking Creek Flood Barrier and read about it in the place where it all happened."
"Unbelievable. This place is unreal as it's well hidden beyond some industrial estate. Lovely bit of public open space with decent views across the river. A little bit vandalised, but not too much."
"This small open space is accessed from River Road. While it's a bit hard to get to, it's worth a visit for the expansive views across the River Thames at the mouth of Barking Creek."
"Been a great place to fish for over 40years, seen the thames get cleaner in this time & more species caught from eels flounder & seabass to roach/bream hybrids & carp under the watchful eye of a breeding pair of peregrine Falcons feeding on the local pigeons aswell as seals & dolphins on occasions during the summer months. Great selection of wading birds at low water from oyster catchers to sandpipers with the odd white egret."
