"These remains that are in the city centre are nothing more than the remains of what was the first cinema in the city called:The Elettric Theatre. It was opened to the public for the first time in 1910 and then finally closed in 1976. To day of that much frequented cinema at the time; to day remains only the upper part of the entire facade which the bas-rilief of the meaning of what it once was on top. Infortunally, as I said earlier, this building has very little left. ....pity because it represents a small fragment of history of this city. 0"
"This building has used to be "The Electric Theatre" which was the longest running cinema in Leicester. It opened in August 1910 and closed in 1976 having had several other identities, most latterly the "Classic Cameo". All that remains of it now is the frontage above head height with the bas-relief of its original identity still visible and intact (regrettably now painted a uniform beige rather than its individual elements being individually coloured as it used to be) and a golden world globe on a spike above the pediment. So, next time you're walking by, just look up and appreciate this easily overlooked remnant of an almost forgotten time!"
