"Worst experience booking something ever period! Have to give a 1 star as there is not an option for a zero! I originally booked a flight on line to fly from Newcastle to tenerife on the 5th April 2022 and return on the 19th april 2022. Sunday 3rd April 2022 2 days prior to our flight date my wife tested positive for covid and due to government guidelines present at the time she had to self isolate. We rang tui online immediately to inform we would not be able to fly and were given the option to change our flight free of charge due to the tui covid policy! We rang back later that day after looking for another flight and found one departing a week later the 12th april 2022 and shorten our holiday from 2 weeks to 1. Bizarrely because we had picked a flight to go the week after and our original flight coming back on the 19th april would remain the same we were told this had to be sent to the infantry team to be confirmed and this could take up to a week? Monday 11th April 8 days since our last phone call and a day before our newly picked flight still no response from the infantry or Any other department! I rang up and explained the situation again! And was told this was now urgent and someone would phone me back later that day again no response! Tuesday 12th april the morning of our newly chosen flight date which we had still had no response to or confirmation! I then rang again to try and get a resolution unsuccessfully. I then rang back a week later after still no response and the agent I spoke to said this was total misconduct on tui behalf and she would get in contact with the infantry team and previous agents we had spoken to and surprise surprise nothing again! I called back on Saturday 23rd april and was told I had to contact the complaints department which we had no response! After several more attempts of a resolution I was left with no choice but to file for a chargeback through my bank which after submitting my case my money was returned successfully. However a couple of months later on the 8th july 2022 I received a letter from my bank saying the money I was refunded was getting returned to tui because they had provided evidence that we never showed up for our flight. Obviously we never showed up as my wife had covid and we had no response or confirmation about our newly picked flight!! Bunch of idiots who are employed here! And obviously nobody passes information to one another!! I then contacted this store to ask for help and they said they were unable to assist as we booked online even though they could see on there system that we had tried to contact infantry and had no response and could see our complaint from back in April! They gave me a number to ring which like every other number we had been given from various agents we just go round in circles and passed around having to explain this over and over again to get nothing sorted! Since this I have sent numerous more email complaints and posted a letter of complaint to be finally told months later if we want our money back we would have to contact our solicitor and go down the legal route through no fault of our own! Just total misconduct from every member of staff from outer space we have spoken to! I have now contacted the civil aviation authority who are looking into my case and I will be seeking legal advice and will be taking tui and various members of incompetent employees to court! This is not about the money it is purely principle and I wish when covid was going on it put you lot out of buisness rather than other airlines and travel companies who offered a 100% better experience!"
