"The facilities were a little run down compared to other youth hostels I've been to lately, but this is my only complaint. The showers were a little grotty and didn't drain very well, but they were powerful enough and hot. The building is beautiful and in a very scenic area with a lovely garden. It has an interesting history and is very old. The hostel is run by volunteers who were ever so kind, friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable (if a little creaky). The lounge was gorgeous and spacious, and there was a huge self-catering kitchen and dining area which was incredibly well-stocked. There was also a fantastic recycling system - even accounting for recycling items such as kettles and old clothes. Overall, it was definitely somewhere I would recommend and would like to come back to."
"Amazing building in a great location for hiking. We were lucky enough to be welcomed by a wonderful volunteer Jane who was super helpful. There is a great pub for food just across the field."
"Quiet self catering hostel near Todmorden. There's no TV or WiFi, but hostel does get a good mobile phone and BBC radio signal. Water is supplied from a spring which the village shares and which the hostel asks guests to use sparingly. The hostel has gas and electric for cooking and heating. There is a well equipped kitchen and adjoining dining room plus a small separate comfortable lounge. There's parking for approx 8 to 10 cars. Hostel is very popular with walkers. Village has a pub for meals, local buses T6 & T8 to and from Todmorden stop by request right outside the entrance to the hostel. Todmorden can be reached by train from Leeds, has an open and a covered public market, Lidl and Morrison supermarkets, for other supermarkets you would have to travel to Hebden Bridge or Halifax by bus number 592."
"A great hostel below Stoodley Pike and Todmorden an easy bus ride away. Good walking, especially on the Moors above the hostel and on the Calder Valley floor with its canal."
"Tired needs some tlc and maintenance. Has showers that don't work and toilets that don't flush sofas that wouldn't look out of place in a mini cab waiting room expected more as was not cheap. Set in the most beautiful scenery and was clean if those things are more important to you though"
