"Updated review 07/02/23 As you can see on the review below, service was 5* and excellent consistently over a 10+ year period. Unfortunately since they became part of Rawdon Motors the sevice has dropped significantly. I like all of the mechanics here which is why I feel bad for having to update my review but on 2 separate occasions now I've been waiting for my car to be fixed for over a week because Rawdon Motors get the mechanics to priorotise their 'for sale' cars over customers who have had their vehicle booked in 2 weeks in advance. Work is clearly rushed, an example of this is receiving a car back minus the battery box and engine under tray with a power steering pipe that's not had the clamp tightened following an alternator replacement - covering a new alternator in power steering fluid. It's because of this lack of attention to detail and frankly unacceptable amount of time it takes for a car to be looked at (when you explain exactly where the problem is - so no investigation required) that means I'll not be using Silver Lane Garage again. A real shame but I now would not recommend this garage, nor would I recommend Rawdon Motors if they truely do put their cars before long standing customers who have booked well in advance. [Original 5* Review from August 2020] Been using Silver Lane Garage for around 10 years now, taking multiple different cars to them for various pieces of work doing (big and small). Work has always been carried out professionally and efficiently. There has never been a single time I've felt that work has not been done with care or up to a certain standard, nor have I ever felt like I've paid more than I should have done for repairs or services. Any work that needs doing is explained prior to anything getting done. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Steve and his colleagues to friends and family. It is my #1 choice when needing any work doing and I don't see that changing any time soon."

"AN ABSOULUTE SHAMBLE'S My car was dropped off 26 days ago, I was told to replace the clutch it might not be this week but it will be within 10 days, I phone up two weeks later and it is still not done because of staffing issues, I then phone 21days later and was told they will have done by Tuesday (25 days later). I mentioned how someone else was having a problem with waiting and have they taken on too many jobs? No, we are just having staffing issues. I phoned on the 26th day and was told it's still not been looked at. I explained how I have been told twice the dates that this should have been done by, I was then told "we have too many jobs at the moment so you will be looking at weeks". I said how I appreciate honesty as I had not had it before and made him aware of how long it has been there, I was then told "you will have to pay for a recovery truck as i'm not sure why you were told we could do this job when we don't have the man power and wont be doing it".... Organisation -0 Booking system-0 Honesty-0 Staff knowledge of jobs-0 Keep clear of this place it's a disgrace....."

"SHORTER VERSION: I have lost confidence in this garage which has a new owner since I last used their services. They were very friendly and kind, BUT they don't have the necessary equipment to do a thorough diagnostic. Dissaponted. LONGER VERSION: Having used this garage previously and getting an excellent service. I did not hesitate to book my car in for its MOT. The staff were friendly and kind. A few days later a garage staff member kindly dropped my car to my house with the relevant documents. He told me he noticed there was an issue with the engine warning light, but they didn't have any equipment to do a diagnostic on the engine fuel flow. I was surprised to hear that, and said that in the past it had bern done by their garage. He explained that the garage was now under new ownership and the previous owner had taken his diagnotic equipment. Long story short my car had the minimum done to make it legally road-worthy, It is now barely driveable. it overheated after about 30 minutes of driving it first time after its MOT. I rang the garage up and explained my issue. The chap who worked on my car kindly offered to look at again if I booked it in. I decided not to go with his offer because they don't have all the equipment necessary to investigate and diagnose my car's problem. I am really disappointed because the issue with overheating was not picked up and the mechanic never told me when he called to say the car was ready that there was an issue with the engine warning light."
