"Great little gym, never busy when I go and very helpful staff. Would definitely recommend"
"Just had to renew my membership, the prices increase is extortionate for the size and availability of the gym around the college use and timetables."
"It costs several hundred pounds a year for the privilege of using this gym, so it would be nice to actually use it. The Clifton college students need to stick to their allotted times, stop leaving the weights room in an absolute state and make way for paying customers instead of roving around in packs in every room monopolising the equipment. I appreciate they need to get big to play rugby, and fend off senior boys intent on playing hide thy sausage, but the housekeeper isn’t around to clean up after them here, so they should re-rack the weights and leave at the allotted time. This gym was ok, but the staff don't enforce the timings that allow customers to make use of the gym, once my subscriptions up to renew I'll go elsewhere."
"Terrible Customer service! I had been attending Kettlercise classes at Clifton College Sports Centre (CCSL) for about 7 years and absolutely loved it. Jon Clayton, who organised these classes, couldn’t have been friendlier or more supportive; the CCSL management/admin team however are a completely different story. In early 2020 I purchased a Clifton Group Fitness bundle of 24 classes. This is a big expenditure for me, but I enjoyed it so much that I considered it worth it due to how engaging the classes were. Then COVID-19 hit, the country was put in lockdown and all classes where cancelled. When restrictions were lifted in the summer of 2020, CCSL reintroduced its fitness classes with the exception of Kettlercise. As this was my primary reason for buying the bundle, I asked for a refund which was agreed. The class tokens were removed from my account, but my money wasn’t returned. I emailed CCSL several times asking for an update and was completely ignored each and every time, receiving no response, not even an acknowledgement that something may have gone wrong and they were trying to sort it out. After 3 months a refund was finally issued -but only after I filed a County Count Judgement in order to try and reclaim the money that had, for all intents and purposes, been stolen from me. At this point the College then emailed to ask for my bank details to return my money, but offered no explanation or apology for the delay or distress they caused. I have to wonder if they would have ever returned my money if I haven’t taken action by filing with the county court. I have always found the wider CCSL facilities lacking. The reception team were never particularly friendly or helpful and always seemed demotivated. The gym itself is small, although the equipment is new and nicely varied. There is an unfortunate culture of misogyny in the gym that although highlighted to management has never been addressed. I regularly had male customers ‘advise’ me on my training, encroach on my personal space or try to nudge me off equipment they wanted to use (even though I didn’t monopolise equipment, they didn’t like to wait and would exercise and stand much closer than needed, even as coronavirus was becoming more and more of a reality). The College’s students also like to ‘train’ in large groups, which mainly consists of them sitting on machines while scrolling through their phones. The only reason I kept my membership at CCSL was because I really enjoyed Kettlercise. As Jon has now left the college and moved his classes with him, I can’t think of a single reason to choose this gym over its competitors."
"Joined after being a member of various PureGyms and university gyms in the past. I will not be looking back. Not only are the staff incredible, but to have a pool, indoor badminton, squash, indoor and outdoor tennis AND an uncrowded gym (for now) in the price makes it second to none. Unlike the gyms of my past the staff are friendly and warm and will go out their way to make your experience grand. To all Puregym/ Anytime Fitness-esque gym members, you may pay a tiny bit more for this but you get so much more for your money. 10/10"
