"While visiting Excel London, We went to med grill for burgers. Service was bad and slow, They had only one cooking for the burgers which was well done, The food was served cold and the prices were quite high. It’s rare that I have no good words to say but this is one of the cases"
"Had a lovely meal it was ribeye steak cooked medium rare it was delicious with chunky chips with truffle and parmesan cheese on, so yummy. My friend and I had quite a few cocktails the waiter Tom bought us a few more different ones to try on the house, they were really nice so we ordered some. All the staff were friendly. All of our meals were good. Had a good laugh with Tom, he made our evening. Good food, great cocktail and good service. Not a cheap meal but what you would expect to pay in London. Would go back if I'm that area again."
"If you like beatles/creepy crawlies served with chips and 1hour late, rude service from a bearded waiter, eat here. Yes there was a big ExCel event happening, but the owner has promised other diners in these comments that staffing would be sorted in future. That was over 8months ago according to Google Reviews. On my visit, it seems things are much worse if you count uninvited 'protein' as part of the experience. Being 'busy' is not a good excuse for blatantly breaking food hygiene norms and serving cold food an hour late."
"Popped in here for dinner with some friends whilst on a conference. Service was friendly and we were seated right away. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Unfortunately the food wasn’t up to much, all the steaks we had were pretty average, nothing better than you would get at a Wetherspoons. One of our party went for the “Surf and Turf” upgrade and received two very emaciated prawns, neither of which had more than a mouthful of meat between them. Side dishes were acceptable but nothing to write home about. All in all, not recommended"
"I was working at an event in ExCel and I'm a big steak fan, so the Med Grill looked like a no-brainer. The building looks inviting and artisan, and upon arriving we were greeted by the friendly lady who served us for the evening. Her service, by the way, was excellent. The let-down was the food and drink, which is really the main thing... All the draft beers were off, except for Guinness, so we settled for bottled beers, which aren't quite the same. We ordered our steaks (one sirloin, one ribeye, one fillet) with mine being a £6 upgrade to surf n turf. We waited over thirty minutes for the steaks to arrives and when they did, it was clear they had been frozen and had not been seasoned at all before being cooked - no salt, no pepper. As a result there was very little flavour in meat, even after adding some salt and pepper myself. My surf n turf turned out to be a single king prawn, that had been over-cooked to the point of being unpeelable and was cold. For £6, remember. The fries were lukewarm. To round things off, we decided to get sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Again we waited half an hour for this to be microwaved, and when it arrived it was lukewarm. All in all, I got the impression the chef did not really know what s(he) was doing. It is possible the chef was new or a replacement, but at £180 for dinner for 3 of us, I expected more, especially from a restaurant specialising in steak. The two-stars is for the service which was friendly and alert. I might come back to see if it was just a one-off, but on this occasion, it was not a good eating experience."
