"Me and the wife decided to stop by and have some lunch. We have been to many Miller & Carter's as we love their food so we thought we would check in. It was a great experience as service was spot on and also food was excellent like always. Fantastic location in Langdon Hills which I believe leads into a beautiful forest. Worth the visit"
"We arrived at the venue on time and were seated straight away. Once we ordered our food, the starters arrived pretty quick, but that's where all positive experience ended. We also ordered baby food when we ordered our drinks, well before ordering our meals, but it was forgotten about as it was not even brought with our starters and we had to remind about it. We then waited for over an hour for the mains to arrive. One of us ordered Dirty burger and it arrived not burnt, but cremated. It's a shame that the chef thought it was appropriate to even put it on the plate. Once the burger was sent back, the replacement arrived not long after and was much better. One of other mains was also burnt, but I didn't send it back as by that point I already waited for it over an hour. It was our first time visiting the venue and most likely the last, as the experience were very disappointing. Just wanted to mention, that the waitress who served our table was very pleasant. As one of the questions is about how clean the venue was, I felt as I had to mention it. Just by the table we sat at, the carpet was really dirty, it looked as it was dogs saliva all over it and being there with a young child it was quite unpleasant. The photos below are of the burger mentioned above and of a confit dug leg"
"Pitiful. Ordered a sharing starter of Camembert with 4 pitiful crusts of bread. 3/4 of the cheese went dry because we had nothing to eat it with. Ordered a medium to well done fillet steak that looked like it could be wandering a field again if it had the kiss of life. Dry and shrivelled salad, none of the menu stated sides arrived with any of the mains. Won’t be eating here again. Had tastier meals at Wetherspoons for an eighth of the price. Poor!!!!!"
"I struggle here, it's at both ends of the scale, some things are great and some not. TL;DR I wanted to love this place and if I'd had just the meat with no sides, I would have given it 5 stars. I paid £170 for 2 people. The main attraction was on point. Starter, sides, sauce and extras had no love - stale, cold "decorations" that had potential to be amazing. Full review: Service staff were great, thoughtful, understanding and attentive. Perfect level of table service. The steak was excellent. It was a good cut and the meat was cooked to my liking! This main attraction was on point for me. The blue cheese side salad was great, fresh lettuce, nice dressing flavour. So simple and perfect as a plate addition. Critical review detail: Scallops starter; fishy, dry and overcooked. The deep fried string onion bedding tasted old, cold and oddly chewy. The lamb rack was a very small main, we treated it as a side. The meat was cooked well and quite tasty, just the plated side garnish was stale again. The vege bedding looked a bit rough and old, I didn't taste it though. The triple fried chips were soft and not triple fried. They were okay to eat and were close to what you would expect from a 'fish and chip' type of shop but not crispy, as I personally was expecting from the "triple fried" description. The hollandaise sauce tasted old, as if it had days sitting around and potentially just microwave reheated, or it had been reheated repeatedly over days. There was a thick surface skin and it was lukewarm. Tableware had dishwasher marks, the glasses looked dirty with crusty fluoride/limescale marks. Cost: £170 for 2 people. 1 starter, 3 mains, fries upgrade and side salads. No desert, no wine. 1 gin and tonic and 2 pepsi drinks. Our choices were expensive ones, plenty of menu items are available with a lesser price tag. We arrived around 5.30pm only a few people on arrival but the full house by the time we left ~6.30pm. Did I complain? I don't think I did, I didn't ask for discount or compensation. I did want to give an opportunity to try the onion and chips fresh, so I did politely ask for a replacement of each. No qualms from the service. The replacements were not much better. I was given a refund for the chip upgrade without asking, I appreciated the gesture(£1). All moans with no solution? The kitchen could have been short staffed, worth checking chef loads during rush. The pre-prepped food is maybe done far too early and kept too long? Some sauces and sides need a review on their freshness. The chips need full resting periods between oil visits, allow the oil drip off, oil temp checked for crispy results. If they are not meant to be crispy, please reassess the value of triple fried? Add dishwasher salt to prevent limescale buildup and water markings on everything."
