"Incompetent. My baby died in the second trimester because of something they didn’t pick up because, “it normally doesn’t happen this early”. I gave birth to my child in the A&E toilet because apparently telling the reception staff that your waters have broken and you’re feeling intense cramping isn’t an emergency. I saw a consultant a couple of months later who assured me I would receive a letter outlining the details of their findings- I received someone else’s letter. When I called to inform them and request my letter I was sent someone else’s letter again. I called again and was told the issue was referred to another team- that was 4 months ago and I still don’t have my letter nor have I had any contact from this team. Thanks for that RUH. That’s exactly the kind of care someone needs after a late miscarriage… I’m pregnant again and have made the mistake of going through this maternity ward again. They have no idea what they’re doing with appointments. I’m consultant led and have scans every two weeks and even with an appointment slip they still tell me I don’t have an appointment. One time I arrived on time and was told I was 2 hours late for my appointment because either I was told the wrong time or it was recorded in the system wrong. These are just a couple of examples. I have had to miss so much work because of their faulty system. Today was the breaking point in my trust for this hospital. I was due my anomaly scan. There was a woman that was talking down to me from the moment I checked in to my appointment. When I realised she would be in the room for my scan I said that I didn’t feel comfortable with her there and would like someone else. She refused to leave. I said that I am within my right to request someone else and explained again that I didn’t like the way that she had spoken to me previously. The sonographer then said she no longer wants to scan me and said “how dare you speak to my colleague that way”. Completely ignoring my reasoning for requesting someone else. I admit I could have handled it better, but it’s difficult being in the situation and feeling like I’m not being heard. I am now transferring my care to a different hospital in a different city because I would rather travel further and feel comfortable with the people handling my pregnancy than ever walk into the RUH maternity ward again."
