"Absolutely horrendous company. You will come across this company on price comparison websites, you will be led up the garden path with a fantastic price from 'Van Line Direct' on the comparison site, you will pay the low first month's installment and away you go, you are insured up to midnight on the day you requested to be insured from. You are then 'required to validate your insurance' or it will be cancelled. After answering all the same questions you did on the price comparison site, you will then be informed that your details are being sent to '25 insurance companies' it then becomes apparent that this is just another insurance broker. You are then provided with an inflated price of what you were originally quoted on your first comparison site. In my case, from £64 up to £95 a month! Not only that, I was then informed that if I don't take a policy out on this current phonecall, as soon as I hang up I am no longer insured. Being somewhere that wasn't my home I needed to drive home, so what was I meant to do? I had no other option than to take the policy out. Van Line Direct know exactly what they are doing, inflating prices and putting people in a position where they have to take the policy at the inflated price. This policy will be getting cancelled tomorrow and an official complaint lodged. I would advise everyone to avoid this company."
"Insured my van for social and domestic use. They phoned me 5 times telling me that they did t believe me and quizzing me how I got to work. Anyway got through that and didn’t have to deal with them again for the rest of the year until I got my renewal quote. This had gone up by a couple of hundred quid. 3 days later I received another email say thanks for renewing your insurance with us. I hadn’t even spoken to them yet! I called them to tell them that I hadn’t renewed. The lady asked me if any circumstances had changed. I told her that I was now employed as opposed to self employed as previous. The quote went up by another £400 !! So i politely declined the offer!! This morning I found that they have taken a first payment from my bank account!! Currently dealing with it I will update the review once complete!"
"Everything is fine until You want to cancel the policy. I'm trying to contact their customer service for 3 days in a row, I spent at least 3 hours on the phone waiting for someone to answer the call or for "scheduled call back" and nothing. The worst experience with insurance company ever."
"Terrible customer service. Renewal quote doubled last years van insurance. Been on hold for half an hour to cancel the renewal and the line just goes dead. I’ve done this twice now. Update: After 3 days I eventually received a call back. They thought I was calling because I was selling my van. Once I told them I wanted to cancel because the renewal price was too high, they put me on hold and then the phone went dead. I called the number back and it was the sales team of course, who couldn’t tell me anything other than that my policy had now been cancelled. If I wanted to find out whether the initial payment would be refunded or whether they would be charging a cancellation fee, they told me I had to ring the cancellation team! So more wasted hours on hold before being cut off."
"Filled all my details in on a compare website and all info was transfered to their website with a quote. They then rang me after id paid in full and asked every single question again, more than one if these was apparently different to what I'd entered online and they then said I owe them over £200 extra as the details weren't correct. I then asked to cancel the policy as i could get it much cheaper elsewhere and was charged a cancellation fee less than 24 hours after taking out the policy."
