"Great venue for tango in south London. Lovely atmosphere, good sound and dancefloor, great intimate space for dancing. Well worth a trip south of the river if you are in town. You can also get nice food and drinks in the pub below."
"Tango178 has evolved into a very strong Tango community, which is incredibly welcoming and supportive. It feels genuinely inclusive, you'll find very experienced dancers and novices sharing the great atmosphere that Simon and Emily have created. The classes are always well paced and cover aspects of tango which are genuinely useful and can be instantly incorporated into the milonga which follows. This all takes place in a great venue. The ambience is perfect for this type of event and in the summer you will really appreciate the air-con. With a steady supply of good quality food and drink from the bar below, this really is a magical way to spend a Sunday evening. If you're a Tango obsessive or just considering tipping your toe into a Ronda for the first time, you should definitely check out Tango178."
"One of the best Argentine Tango schools in London. Small but perfectly formed. I've been learning Argentine Tango on and off for 12 years with really good teachers, but I never quite 'got it' until I started learning with Simon and Emily at London Tango Classes (Tango 178) first in Peckham then New Cross. With them I really found the confidence to dance socially rather than going to class after class learning 'fancy' moves which I could never do and was probably a painful experience for those I led. Their style is about connection and simplicity and consideration for the other dancers rather than flicking your legs in places they don't quite fit through or other 'Strictly show moves'. The best things about them are: - Simon and Emily are the most incredibly lovely and friendly people and brilliant teachers - There's just a gorgeous community of people who learn and dance socially at London Tango Classes (Tango178). It's so warm and the level of dancing is really good (but not too intimidating). - The NEW VENUE!! They've just moved to a new venue in New Cross, called The New Cross House and it is brilliant. The upstairs room is just the right size for an intimate social event, enough space to dance, but very arty and bohemian (lots of nude bottoms and chests as they run life drawing classes there too - not for the prudish!) It suits Argentine Tango down to ground though. Plus the staff there are super lovely, they've just welcomed the Tango community to their hearts. They also do great food, proper rustic pizzas in a proper massive pizza oven which is on view downstairs and quite the spectacle to watch. The ambiance is great too, a thriving venue. I couldn't recommend this Tango school enough."
"This Tango class is amazing! We love Simon and Emily and all the lovely people who come here, they are excellent teachers. I've been to other classes and there is such a great vibe here. Maybe because it's smaller and because they seem to have a lot of long term regulars, I'm not sure, but it's definitely 'special'. They do an offer thing where you can bring a new person for free too. Great venue and lush Sunday dinners before or after the class a must. Eat loads and then burn it off! Would definitely recommend."
"London Tango classes offers a really friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Classes are fantastic, Simon and Emily are gifted and approachable teachers. I always feel welcomed and I really appreciate the effort they make in creating an environment like that"
