"Having attended Barnehurst from '78 until '85, I can wholeheartedly attest to it's being the very best Infant and Primary school in the land! My mother attended the school before me during the mid-fifties, and they maintained the same exceedingly high standards throughout. We were taught to write in printed italics with cartridge ink pens (mine was more expensive as I'm left-handed) complete with blotting paper to dry our work. I was a troubled, fairly aggressive youth, and the truly fantastic Mrs Clayton (Infant headmistress) and incomparable Mr Evans (Primary headmaster), Miss Camsey and Mr Davies performed minor miracles in psychology, towards ironing the worst of my toxic traits down to an acceptable level of dysfunction! In a stroke of genius, they made me Head Librarian, a role that I relished and revelled in (being a voracious reader) and I took it upon myself to read the entirety of the Library during the holidays in readiness for the grand reopening (the previous years incumbents hadn't opened the Library at all, it being their responsibility to do so, or not. So the whole place needed cleaning, re-ordering, and a lending card written for every pupil). The responsibility was cathartic and rehabilitating. I honestly learnt nothing else throughout Seconday school, such was the enormity of the knowledge that this school crammed into us. I love this school with every fibre of my being, it truly saved me from thuggishness and ignorance."
"Amazing the teachers were great"
"I attended this school, shortly after the war, from about 1952 until about 1956. Yes it was many years ago! Mrs. Munford was at that time the Head Mistress. She was strict, but a lovely lady, who taught me values and a code of conduct that have stayed with me throughout my life. To her I'll always be grateful. Miss Mills was the Head Teacher, and as I recall, the music teacher. Others I remember were MrGodsol (spelling?) and Mr. King. I'd. Love to hear from anyone who recalls those times. Colin Ming, Vancouver Canada."
"This primary school was excellent. This school gave me good opportunities, however failed to comply with me in Year 6. Overall, this school is magnificent, send your kid to this school. P.S.: Improve the lunch food, I didn't have a good experience with the lunch food. The diner-ladies are like angels!!"
