"School is alright but some teachers, including the head teacher are very rude. About a year ago, my friend was called a clown by Tim Allman for wearing a golden feather pin on his blazer, whilst others walk around with large anime pins which he does not respond to. Secondly, the uniform policy is extremely strict for no reason. Why can't someone wear whatever earrings they want? It does not affect learning because if you are being realistic, no one will stare at someone's ears, that is creepy. Thirdly, the food system is horrendous, both the queue and food itself. The food often contains hair and mould in it, and the queue is impossible to contain, every now and then a fight starts and it becomes a stampede in the canteen/hall. To improve this i would recommend bringing back the 3-2-1 Timetable for some year groups. Additionally, recently a teacher had sworn at a student, whether it was aimed at them or not, it is still unacceptable to do. On top of this, classes hardly ever get actually taught as there is a large lack of teachers, therefore resulting in students being taught by cover teachers who cannot control the class and only pave a path to chaos in the classroom. Furthermore, some teachers are hardly qualified to teach. For example, lessons with one teacher are mostly just copying from the board without actual learning. The only reason why this school gets 1 star is because of how languages are taught well, but even so, the teachers can hardly quiet down the class. Moreover, fights occur very often at the Purley Playing Fields and bus stops around the school, which are devastating to see. Recently, a student was hit by a bus in front of our school. While this may not be the school's fault, its still not amazing that most of these incidents occur at Harris Purley. What's more, our DT subject departments are horrendous, specifically Carpentry, where a teacher has said himself that he plans to change the room due to the lack of safety measures there. In Food Technology, washing the dishes is insanely disgusting, you dip dishes in dirty water and take it out. Adding to the uniform complaints, there is a stupid issue with wearing blazers; keeping them on when going around the school. There is no need for doing this and it just adds more of a burden to put it on after being told off again for not wearing it. In other schools, students are allowed to express themselves through their hair, much unlike Harris Purley, where you must have one single, natural hair colour, which is absolutely ridiculous since other Harris', like Invictus, allow hair to be as wild as the student wants, which allows them to feel more comfortable with their appearance. Speaking of appearance, racism is a horrible issue here too, specifically within students, who often make comments about others, such as using slurs against other communities. What makes this worse is that the teachers are completely oblivious to this. As an example, all throughout a lesson, two students were repeatedly being racist to a student for being South Asian, and the teacher paid no attention to this issue despite how loud they were being. One may argue that this is just banter, but that doesn't justify racist comments. Students just don't feel comfortable here anymore, and nothing is happening to change this. Please fix Harris Academy Purley."
"The food is horrible, i found MOULD in my CUPCAKE i am absolutely OUTRAGED. This Proves how none of the FOOD is FRESH. And is most likely made MONTHS BEFORE. DO BETTER!!!!"
"I'm in Secondary rn lol. School isn't bad but the strictness of our uniform is ridiculous. You have to wear a certain earring in class and certain socks for pe."
"Suicidial school and go offline forever pls you need to help Countries start albania business and pls why are you ruining my Life stop Thank you"
"The school urgently needs to deal with their aggressive, rude and horrific children who gather on the Brighton road bus stop after school UNSUPERVISED. They harrass both members of the public and local businesses with their disgusting behaviour. The school should at least have staff present at the bus stop to supervise them. We have seen numerous fights and today police attended and arrested some of the children as they were fighting and vandalising cars and shops etc. if these children are a reflection of this school then it must be a totally horrendous establishment indeed. The local resident and businesses are getting together to campaign to the local police station and education authorities to take action before some innocent party ends up getting hurt ot worse. Shame on you Harris academy , should be renamed horrendous academy in my opinion !!!"
