"Have just been here today. For Mother's Day. Really disappointed, having heard really good things. And having eaten at the owners previous restaurant. The menu was basically three roast dinners and three other options, basically fish and nut roast. No pasta or steak options. Bearing in mind that the word grill is in the name of the restaurant, you would think there'd be a steak option. The staff were lovely but seemed to be rushing. Also, our starters arrived within two minutes of ordering them, as if already sat waiting. Call me old fashioned, but if I'm paying 150.00 plus for five of us to eat, I expect a little bit more cooking to be done. Not just microwave. Won't rush back which is a shame, as live really close."

"£15 two course meal is probably the best bargain in a restaurant in Britain. Opening up with ribs that were succulent and juicy , gnawing on the bones to remove every inch of meat . The salmon followed , two pieces that could have been lifted from Alaska such was the flavour the new potatoes a fitting side. With some lively music in the background and good banter with the Chef and his team the Surf and Turf hit the spot and for a bargain price ! Recommended."

"This place has just absolutely nailed the dining experience and is incomparable to anything else nearby. My partner and I tend to visit this place run by the former owners of the gate every week. The service is fantastic, the staff are very well trained and the service they provide fits the establishment perfectly. The atmosphere is authentic and brings a touch of class and culture on par with the dining experience. The food that is served here is leagues above any restaurant nearby; the menu adds and removes items regularly when the produce is available. I have on occasion just been enamoured with the food that much I have ordered 4 starters and 3 mains for just two of us. I would recommend the escargot (when available), oysters, el gordos seafood platter, the ribeye, prawn pil pil and the salmon fillets, but no choice there will leave you disappointed. Excellent service, staff, food, and atmosphere . Highly recommended."

"Fantastic food, with portions that won't leave you wanting more. Terrific use of ingredients and flavours. 2 minor points which are not criticisms at all. The snail starter really needs the specialist fork and tongs, and my minted Lamb with potatoes, which was superb, maybe could have been accompanied with a small pot of minted gravy, just to add some optional sauce if the customer wanted it. (If this was an option on the sides menu, then I stand corrected). Also a very nice setting with tables given ample room and privacy, you don't feel like you're crammed in. Staff were lovely, very polite, professional, warm and welcoming. Prices were fantastic value, given the quality of the ingredients. Will highly recommend the restaurant to others and look forward to coming again soon."
