"Lovely stay at the Bowl. A warm welcome. Clean and comfortable room. The tea and coffee provided in our room was of high quality as were the products in the bathroom. So many nice touches that enhanced our stay. Add to that the excellent food served in the restaurant. Highly recommend. Thank you"
"A very pleasant stay in a characterful pub. Parking was easy and welcome at check in. We had a deluxe double room which was very quiet and had a very large and comfortable bed. Excellent tea and coffee choices. The shower room was a bit of a squeeze - and we are not large people! The leisurely breakfast was only one course, but excellent- scrambled egg and smoked salmon on toasted sourdough. Take care on stairs immediately outside room."
"We had high hopes for this pub, and made a reservation. The menu looked good, and the atmosphere seemed nice. … this was all let down by the fact that we were generally ignored by the waiting staff, despite being sat directly in the middle of the restaurant. It took a LONG time to get our food ordered at the start. I really wanted a desert, so I considered ordering it with my starter and main, to which the waitress said it was fine to wait and order a desert after having my main meal. … after our mains, our plates were taken and we weren’t offered desert menus. After considerable waiting, we eventually asked for desert menus ourselves, to which we were told the kitchen had just closed! We weren’t even given a heads up! We all left disappointed, and we won’t be coming back or recommending this place. On some side notes, multiple dishes also arrived at the table with components missing… such as no blue cheese on a blue cheese salad. There was also no check-back to ask if our food was okay, which as an ex-waiter I know is common practice. Such a shame."
"The inn is situated in a very nice town, next to an old and beautiful church, which gives it a very local English and traditional feel. The Pub and the Inn are super super cozy and warm, beautifully decorated and maintained. The staff is charming and very attentive. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped, and again, very cozy and warm. The breakfast is lovely and has vegetarian and vegan options. We also dined at the restaurant one evening, and it was great! They have a variety of dishes, including vegetarian and vegan options which are very good, as well the fish and chips which was delicious. I hope I'll have the chance to come back to Bowl Inn. I highly recommend it!!!"
"Ancient rural country pub! Established in 1550 this village boozer/eatery is charming and cozy. Plenty of free parking (validated inside the pub), loads of outside seating at the front and the rear, good selection of drinks and a varied and interesting food menu make this an ideal spot for a family meal. Dog friendly too. Fish and chips was excellent, as was the courgette and broad bean arancini. The menu also informs of a dessert which is sold for charitable proceeds, and the fact that the brewery provides beer waste product to a local farm for cow feed, which then provides milk for the cheese used back at the pub. Nice little touches that show a consideration for social welfare, and sustainability! Inside seemed warm and welcoming, though we sat outside and only popped in and out to order at the bar. Was moderately busy for a midweek lunch, which is always a good sign of a quality establishment. Highly recommended!"
