"Absolutely ridiculous! AVOID – DO NOT RUIN YOUR EVENING! We have had a couple of issues with Slumdog in the past and had been avoiding them for a while because of this. However, last night we made a mistake and decided to give them another chance- oh dear much to our huge regret. …. so the Saga begins… 19:20 ordered with a delivery time of 20:10. They use their own delivery drivers so we weren’t able to track through Deliveroo. They accepted the order straight away and time ticks on… 20:30- I began calling the restaurant for an update. Call 1: No answer Call 2: They hung up on me Call 3: Told me they had just left Call 4: Told me they didn’t have our order… then later said oh yea they were on the way on a bus They then called me to tell me they were outside… you guessed it… they were nowhere to be seen. A series of phone calls between us, the delivery driver and restaurant. They had gone to an incorrect address- a couple of miles away- not sure how they managed this… knowing our postcode? Phone calls were abrupt, rude, full of excuses and absolutely no apology. So my husband ends up heading outside to retrieve the food at… 21:40 – yep nearly 2.5 hours after we has ordered. We had understandably already begun heating up some soup and toast… we were hungry by then and pretty wound-up by the horrific service we received. Ah so now the food…. Without surprise… cold. Incorrect item , very soggy excuse for poppadom’s and the best part… mouldy fish pakoras. My husband and I were just in complete shock as to how disastrous this whole experience was and incompetent the restaurant were at dealing with their mistakes. Please, please please. Do not ruin your evening by ordering from them. There are plenty of much better options out there. AVOID them!"
"Amazing food. The Samosa Choley was so good - our first time trying it and we'll be back. Masala chips were very tasty and moreish. We also had Bindi Masala and Tadka Dal which were lovely. Thanks so much!"
"I very, very rarely order Indian takeaway as yet to find one worth what they cost. I had planned to make my own curry to light but due to a foot injury was struggling to stand in the kitchen so took a gamble, and ordered from Slumdog, we’re new to Edinburgh so aren’t familiar with the best local takeaways. I was however, pleasantly surprised. Very speedy delivery, and considering it came from near leith to Niddrie, it was piping hot. The curry sauce was absolutely delicious. The perfect balance of spice, creaminess and rich flavour and texture. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the Pilou rice was the tastiest I’ve EVER had. My daughter claimed it was too spicy but I found it to be just right. The chips are very generously sized portion and as an accompaniment can easily feed 4. However there is room for improvement, hence the 4 stars. The Chicken pieces for me, are a bit too fatty, though, I know plenty of people who’d eat it like that. I’m just very fussy and one of the main reasons I cook myself is to cut out all the bits of chicken I don’t like, and the garlic naan, just tasted like a plain naan, not enough garlic, just a though for the future folks. We live in Scotland, us brits are obsessed with garlic lol. I shall order again."
"The food was amazing & the service was great! We had a voucher so decided to get a few different things. The haggis pakora was fantastic! We had the chicken & haggis pakora, mixed rice, saag aloo, aloo gobi (cauliflower was amazing) & korma. There aren’t any baby changing facilities - not an issue for us but just in case."
"Tasty Indian food by kind servers. They were accommodating if you tell them your spice levels. Also it was one of the few places that was open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I would like them to add hot beverages in their menu."
