"Before coming to gilroy court I read some reviews and went into pure panick. We moved in June 2022. On arrival with my 2 children I was happy and greatful with the room we were provided with. It had everything for our basic needs and the staff were very friendly and helpful if ever I had a problem or question. We spent 6 months here and although cramped and often overwhelming being so confined i felt it safe and secure for me and my children while we were in need. Try not to let bad reviews cloud your judgement. The only thing for me is the electrics are in need of an upgrade."
"I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy to stay there for even a day.Very surprised that councils send vulnerable families to live next to junkies and alcoholics. The rooms are not up to basic standards and lots of favouritism within. They accuse you of all sorts and when you try to defend yourself, you get threatened with an eviction notice and final warning. Funny enough, they don't have the evidence to back the allegations against you.You are not allowed to have your own Wi-fi but then they will not supply you one . Children are not allowed to play ball, bike or skating within the premises and there is no designated play area for small children or activity areas for older children. The rooms are infested with bed bugs, the only time they took my complaint seriously was when I had to go to A&E to be on drip & steroids.Even then, they were reluctant to give me brand new beds. The laundry room have only 2 machines to serve over 200 residents and one is usually broken but it shreds clothes and barely cleans your clothes, but somehow you're the stupid one who doesn't know how to use it.They talked down to you, treat you like a criminal, disregard your concerns.Only 2 member of staff gives you the time of the day to talk to you. The children are only meant to stay in their room. They are not allowed to play with each other. The rooms are very stuffy,no air coming through and the windows can only be open by an inch and a half and are stopped with metal bars so they cannot be opened wider. We are not allowed to befriend each other,or spend time in each other's room. Why not just change the name to Gilroy Balmoral Prison(Hotel). I guarantee that me and my son will get an eviction letter because of this review. But it's about time someone speaks up,we live in a democratic country with a right to have an opinion and to speak your mind."
"Horrendous place. Full of drunks & druggies. The rooms absolutely stank. Felt totally unsafe & actually put our suitcase in front of our door. There are washing machine available but strange opening times"
"This place is completely unprofessional. The hot water don't work and when I raised this with a member of staff his reply was "it's not your concern and if you don't like it then move Out" I was then accused of insulting a member of staff just so that they could get me out as I was raising concerns about the hotel."
"DO NOT PAY TO STAY HERE unless u want dirty..got rats in, got cockroaches and bed bugs. Security abuse there rights especially with the children who have been put here to live by the council ... I have witnessed and made complaints about security telling children to shut up for no good reason which was not even a little bit taken seriously. There is no complaints book, you get told to write on a piece of paper and they just leave the complaint on the table, when I have asked where will the complaint go, nobody knows so I'm guessing in the bin...as I did not get a reply to my complaint and have not seen any changes and still the same security work here. Family's are put here to live for 2-3 years... never shorter but defo longer. Druggies and drunks and people who have just come out of prison are also put here to live. This place is a b&b so breakfast consists of toast or cereal... they do not cook anything else. It's a building that in my opinion needs to be brought down by a bulldozer. Honestly it is that bad. The council should not be putting anyone there to live, even prisons are cleaner. You'll defo get a taste of street living here when your walking away with red itchy bumps all over your skin from the bedbugs."
