"I never really leave reviews, but after my experience at the Leigh Spectrum Clinic, I felt compelled to do so. I am 51, on the menopause and taking hrt. I knew what to expect, as I already had a copper coil in place, that had been in for 10 years and had slipped out of the position (previous scan confirmed this). The plan was to locate this one and replace with a Mirena 5 year contraceptive coil. I was really nervous about the procedure as there was a possibility that the coil had moved into somewhere that would make it really uncomfortable to remove.....then risking my cervix going into spasm and rejecting a new coil. The reception staff were very pleasant and I only waited about 10 minutes before I was called in. The nurse that greeted me barely looked at my face, no hello, no smile, no friendly chit chat to put me at ease. The female doctor looked very down cast and I had the same reaction from her. Straight away I felt uncomfortable and could feel my anxiety rising and I rented up. The doctor asked the appropriate questions, without really making eye contact and was quite standoffish. I was asked to undress from waist down and lie on the bed. As I had been given absolutely no friendly reassurance and the atmosphere was not pleasant, I decided to just get this done attitude and get the he'll out of there. Thankfully the procedures all went to plan and I was done in minutes. The doctor was very efficient and I felt only a little discomfort for a couple of minutes. It kind of made up for their terrible bedside manner. I was given some aftercare advice and then absolutely reminded that due to my age I'd have to go elsewhere to have this removed after the 5 years. "Oh cheers for that very rude comment .....could of been said in a more polite way". I left that room with poor relief and hope to god the Mirena behaves itself and I don't have to go back. I've thought about this a lot and tried to make excuses for their attitude. Maybe they've had bad news today, maybe they're not feeling well etc. Truth is the.. ...there is no excuse. These are professional people who should act professionally no matter what there personal circumstances. A big part of their profession is dealing with people who are vulnerable and need reassurance. I suggest that if they cannot give their patients this basic of needs, or if they are not happy in this particular profession, then they ought to consider another job."
"The telephone number is a waste of time nobody answers and no point to go the reception because they won't let you in . They tell you to ring the number, that nobody answers . The nurse's are really good and made me feel at ease, when they fitted my coil fitted but reception staff don't want to help you and never answer the phone . They are very unhelpful and abrupt! When you actually get an appointment the nurse and the other staff are really good but these current reception staff really let the service down and the procedure to just ring the number that never answers, only when they can be be bothered is absolutely shocking and not good."
"The dr and health care assistant that looked after me where amazing! I was very anxious as I was having the coil fitted and head so many stories, but they made the whole experience a lot less stressful for me! They was both very patient with me and listened to me. The best sexual health service in Wigan! Thank you very much!"
