"Superb Robert Adam interior, Chippendale furniture and art collections in magnificent country house. Also worth visiting the medieval church with fine alabaster monuments, and medieval castle ruins. Lake and gardens to view too, cafes in stables courtyard and basement of the house. A great day out!"
"Such a lovely place to visit! Beautiful scenery & all the pretty lights are up for Christmas! Very glad I visited, not to mention the staff were very friendly and kind as well. Super accommodating & understanding. The 15- minute walk from the front to the entrance of the house in the cold was my least favourite part but it was definitely worth it!"
"The house was magnificent with beautiful gardens, amazing views and kids play area. They have guides/volunteers that are very helping and patient, especially David. We asked them literally tons of questions and they answered all with a smile. I was amazed to learn that it was a permanent home up until 2019. They housed Radical Acts exhibition which was a bit distracting but nevertheless the experience was memorable. The house opens at 11am and closes at 3pm."
"Great place to visit, you need a while day to see everything. House has great history and lots to see, staff very knowledgeable and happy to explain the building the the exhibits. The rest of the grounds are well maintained and clean. Terrace Cafe has some lovely soup, sandwiches , cake and scones."
"Great place to visit with or without kids. The house is magnificant. Would recommend buying a guide for £5. Staff are extremely helpful. Food in terrace restaurant is very good. Walk around lake is lovely. Note they give discounts to English heritage and Blue card holders."
