"My son was in a bad way while left in isolation in prison we as a family was left out in the cold we had no hope of getting the treatment my son needed . Until the team at wathwood hospital got involved hand on heart I carnt prises the staff as highly as they deserve they have gone above and beyond to get back the son I had before his mental health break down to the point where he not only know what or who he was but not recognising me has his mother , they have taken time out not just for him but us as a family too as a mother of a child with mental health issues all I can say is thank you to each and everyone one the staff that have cared for my child and supported me I felt like I had no where to turn for help until wathwood hospital stepped in , there changing peoples life’s and giving back families there loved ones . All I can say is thank you for been there for us all ."

"Worst mental hospital in Yorkshire. Bad practice vile staff and the food is horrible. The environment is nasty and needs updating including staff members who bullying there subjects and should be investigated ASAP. There are a few very few therapist and Dr's who are brilliant and have helped me change my life but the majority especially cate assistance people are not Professional nor do they care about the £10 per hour wage so thru don't give proper care to the patients. I have seen bullying and threatening behaviour from some staff and very inappropriate behaviour towards patients. I my self was attacked verbally and racial comment towards me because I am mixed race. In my time there I made numerous complaints that was not taken seriously and kept in house. They stole /lost my mobile phone and damaged my stereo and lost other belongs. Wathwood is worser than prison and the environment is also worse than prison and the the majority of staff act like guards. I had cancer and thru took me to hospital with 4 care assistants I was handcuffed and chained and I felt so ashamed and they didn't care marching me through the hospital like it's America. I was going through one of the toughest times of my life with cancer and the care I received was NONE they didn't care even when I was having chemotherapy they would come in the toilet with chains and handcuffs. When I was back at Wathwood no one asked me if I was okay do I need anything I just stayed in my room alone wonderful of I was going to die there. I had very little support at that time and it was a sad time for me and I needed someone but no one was there for me. Wathwood needs to change and start helping people's rather than lock them away for years with little or no progress."
