"Have tried calling this company umpteen times now as it appears my debt has been bought by them. Every time (given their office hours are supposed 8am-8pm, the message tells me to call back as I'm calling after they are closed - each time I've called has been during those working hours. Appalling."
"Debt collection company, They buy debt from other companies, usuraly banks and then chase you for the money. Is it legal - yes Do they some times get the wrong person/ number - yes Will they chase a debt thats status barred (over 7 years of no payment) - yes they legaly are allowed to ask, but they can not ask a court to enforce it. Are they allowed to call you 3 times a day - Yes, sadly they are, How did they get your number - they recieve their contact info numbers from credit line or who ever owned the debt origionaly. I told them they have the wrong number but they still keep calling - you need to explain whats going on, let them know the person they are calling isn't there, they will do a credit search (doesn't effect credit score) What can they legaly do - They can get a court order to collect the debt from your employer/ benefits, best thing is to just talk to them and try to work out : 1. Why they called you? 2. is it you they are looking for? 3. Do you owe the money? - they send information in regards to the debt if you are the one "owing" it, it will help identify who the debt belonged to, for example - HSBC or Natwest, yes they and other banks sell debts to Hoist Finance/ Robinson Way, usuraly old/ defaulted debts. 4. If you're concerned about repayments just say that, last I checked their was no minimum monthly payment. 5. Is the debt Status barred !? - After 7 years of no payment, the debt can no longer be enforced. if you can find this out and point it out, they will often close the debt if you give them a few minutes. 6. Does this effect your credit score? No, anything thats happened to your credit score was done by who ever declared the debt as defaulted, and sold it on. This is just advice from someone who left their employ before Covid, and while some things may have changed, I certainly would never go back there, I left because I hated the work, but sadly its legal and in some ways better than the alternative. They are the alternative to bailiffs who would knock on your door and start selling your property to repay your debt. - No they will not do that, this is no longer Thatchers England. Hopefully this might help some people who need it. TL:DR - just speak to them, the person on the other end is usuraly nice, and will explain everything if you co-operate, - If they have your name, they have your details, usuraly from a credit check. - If they don't have your name, and you don't know them, tell them that person is no longer at on this number - or address if its mail. - The only way to make them go away, is to speak to them. Talking to them will not mean you owe them anything or are taking responsibility for something. They will help if you give them time."
"Contacted me repeatedly (and I mean repeatedly!) for a debt I don't owe, even after a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman. They admit it's a case of mistaken identity but they will not stop. These people are scammers - I recommend ignoring any letters you receive from them and contacting the Citizen's Advice Bureau."
"Raving reveiws! Had calls and texts from this company, they asked my name and other personal details to pass there security and when I challenged them they refused to say from what company or amount owed until i pass there process!! I do not give my details out randomly over the phone and would advise others the same. A private company has no authority to enter your home and take anything, however they can ruin your credit rating sadly. 1 star given as i cannot give a fat zero."
"Received out of the blue emails telling me I had a debt of nearly £5000 with HSBC. I did not have a debt with HSBC. Contacted this company asking that they send details of this debt and proof i owed it. Never heard another thing from them. They buy statute barred debts and ones that have been repayed long time previous. Scammers plain and simple. Beware of them. Quite how they are FCA approved I'll never know."
