"To note: first time flexible cystoscopy, microscopic hematuria for 8 months and previous reoccurring UTIs (none for 5 months now) and very low pain threshold Visited Prof Grey and although he told me not to lose sleep over a flexible cystoscopy, naturally I googled everything and lost sleep. I attended the appointment today and i can honestly say in terms of pain, I’ve had worse smears and blood tests. The procedure was very short, the local anaesthetic was inserted which had a minor sting (not painful to any degree) and the camera swiftly after. The initial insertion was uncomfortable (but not painful) for a second or two. Once inside, there was no discomfort, also the same once it was removed. Staff were professional, friendly and informative. Genuinely had a smear on two days before which was more uncomfortable. I hope this helps anyone with their worries."
